Fridays are reserved for the gridiron and we tackled all the Labour Day Classic previews with a Hall of Fame lineup on Episode #564 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talkshow! Here’s the rundown:

  • Rod and Moose Dupont kicked it off with The Warmup for EECOL Electric covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) LDC weekend opens with Montreal at Ottawa Friday night (Alouettes favoured by 6.5-p0ints), 2) The CFL reschedules the Edmonton/Toronto game for November 16 leaving Edmonton playing three games in seven days in Regina, Toronto and Vancouver, 3) Other LDC previews – Bombers/Riders, Argos/Ticats, Elks/Stampeders, 4) NHL teams will be able to suspend unvaccinated players, 5) NFL/NCAAF notes, and 6) Viewers wanted Rod’s opinion on the OHL suspending forward Logan Mailloux until January. “You do the crime, you gotta do the time,” the host said. “Hopefully he learns from this and is ready to play in January.”
  • CBC’s Dan Plaster joined the bunker in Segment 2 and the crew delved further into all these topics. The former Rider staffer feels playing three games in seven days is a tough ask, but it’s doable.
  • Blue Bombers great and CFL On CBC alum Chris Walby joined the show to revel in Labour Day Weekend and previewed the Classic in Regina. He feels the game will come down to special teams and gave the Riders the edge. He regaled the viewers with his favourite LDC stories and regarding the Elks situation, he doesn’t think the Edmonton players should have to play so many games in such a short amount of time. “But I’m not the Commissioner,” shrugged the Canadian Football Hall of Famer.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Should the Elks be forced to play three games in seven days? At press time, 56% of respondents said no.
  • In Hour 2 for CORR Grain we were joined by CFL On TSN analyst and BetRegal.net CFL Ambassador Matt Dunigan to announce the new partnership between Bet Regal and The RP Show. Dunigan explained it’s a Canadian-founded company and wants to make a splash with the CFL and its fans. Dunigan will call the Alouettes/RedBlacks game Friday night and is intrigued by the match-up however his thoughts are with the Bombers & Riders. “This isn’t the game of the week. It’s the game of the year!” Matty gushed. Dunigan also talked about Chris Streveler’s success with the Arizona Cardinals saying he isn’t surprised and said the Stampeders shouldn’t be rushing back Bo Levi Mitchell for Monday’s Battle Of Alberta.
  • Moose rejoined the bunker for the final two segments of Viewer Takeover and the boys made their Labour Day Weekend picks and outlined their weekend plans!
  • Friday’s show is available for viewing now on our Facebook/YouTube pages, you can catch the replay at 4:00 pm ET on Game+, listen to the podcast by clicking on the CONTENT tab at the top of this page or listen anytime to our 24-hour live audio feed at RodPedersen.com/ListenLive.
  • Enjoy the Labour Day Classics and we’ll see you Tuesday at 12 pm ET/10 am MT on Game+ TV and YouTube/Facebook Live!

Ottawa REDBLACKS need to fire Marcel Dejardins Immediately, IMMEDIATELY! Head coach Paul LaPolice needs to shake up his coaching staff or step aside. REDBLACKS a terrible team, hard to watch what Dejardins has provided, their playing talent is a major cause for concern. The ownership of the REDBLACKS need to act now not later! Pathetic football Ottawa.

Heard… Darren (Moose) Dupont likens Cody Fajardo to Nickleback. Great analysis Dupes, except he’s much cornier than Nickleback.

Hearing the SP will lay down new Covid19 protocols just before the Regina Pats take to the Ice on their 2021/22 WHL season. Say it ain’t so, I want to watch Connor Bedard play in person in Regina not on some news reel highlights from a down south league.
