FLAME TECH FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN: LAPO & PINBALL!

IMG_6645

Fridays are reserved for the gridiron on The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talk Show – and we tackled the latest in the CFL on Episode #509! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont kicked it off with The Warmup for EECOL Electric covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Tampa Bay takes down the Islanders 2-1 for a 2-1 series lead, 2) Vegas visits Montreal in Game 3 Friday night, 3) Rod Brind’Amour wins NHL Coach of the Year, 4) CFL stuff – Is it too early for predictions? And will mercy be shown for vets in training camp whom aren’t in game shape?, 5) The Blue Jays get swept by the Yankees and make dubious MLB history, and 6) The Nets & Bucks are going to Game 7 in the NBA.
  • There was a wild debate over Rider coach Craig Dickenson’s comments that some vets may have to be cut if they’re not in game shape. The revelation has been much debated and Rod surmised that it’s still “a cold, hard business” which we forgot during the pandemic. Some viewers surmised that regular Joes are able to work out and still work full-time which caused Rod to lose his mind. He said pro ballers are in the gym 4-5 hours per day.
  • Toronto Argonauts GM Mike “Pinball” Clemons joined the show from his Toronto home to preview the CFL season and he said the Argos are up against it, having to face the juggernaut Hamilton Tiger-Cats four times. Pinball went over his roster and also expressed how impressed he is by first-year head coach Ryan Dinwiddie. He also said there was a concerted effort along with Assistant GM John Murphy to sign and draft local players. Pinner also said Saskatchewan is his second favourite province and that the Rider Nation is the backbone of the CFL.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who will have more passing yards in 2021 – Cody Fajardo or Bo Levi Mitchell? At press time Fajardo was leading with over 60% of the vote.
  • In the Hour 2 Second Half Kickoff we kibitzed with viewers about the CFL schedule and the hurdles which remain for the CFL to kickoff on August 5.
  • Ottawa RedBlacks head coach Paul LaPolice joined the show from outside an IKEA in Ottawa to discuss his club. He scoffed at Willie Jefferson’s assertion that Ottawa’s afraid to play the Blue Bombers and said they’re not scared to play anybody. Lapo’s very excited to work with QB Matt Nichols and feels they have a solid back-up in Dominique Davis. He feels Ottawa will surprise many this year. The former CFL On TSN panelist also discussed his television days and what he learned from the experience. Regarding cutting vets some slack over their inability to train properly, LaPo said the best players will make the team.
  • Rod and Dupes Faced Off on how The Rock would be received if introduced at a CFL game this fall, and how he should be unveiled. The Face Off is a presentation of UFZ Moose Jaw and The Mad Greek Restaurant.
  • Friday’s show is available for viewing now on our Facebook/YouTube pages, you can listen to the podcast by clicking on the CONTENT tab at the top of this page or listen anytime to our 24-hour live audio feed at RodPedersen.com/ListenLive.
  • See you at 12 pm ET/10 am MT on Monday on Game+ TV and YouTube/Facebook Live!

So!
It’s now being reported (LP) the world Coronavirus epidemic will soon be considered a Endemic (Shaqib Shahab, it’s here to stay so get used to it) whereby it will always be lurking in the background of lives lived for a very long time. Too many world wide variable variants to eradicate this virus until science finds a one and done cure. Stay safe!
