FOOTBALL FRIDAY RECAP: JEFF REINEBOLD JOINS!

Episode 158 of The Rod Pedersen Show was epic! Here’s how:

  • Rod, Dupes and John Frenzy opened Football Friday with The Rollout for Flooring Superstores. Here are the Magnificent 7 show topics as laid out in Segment 1: 1) What’s the pressure on the Riders in 2020 compared to 2013?, 2) George Cortez to the Stampeders, 3) Derrick Moncrief saying he “did his time” in Saskatchewan, 4) Rod’s Top 10 CFL Free Agent List, 5), Will Stephen McAdoo be coaching in the CFL in 2020?, 6) What’s the hold-up on announcing the Riders’ 2020 coaching staff?, and 7) Who’s the 2020 Grey Cup favourite?
  • The bonus topics were Sunday’s NFL Conference Championships (AFC: Tennessee at Kansas City, NFC: Green Bay at San Francisco), plus the guys asked CFL fans across the country what their teams’ concerns are heading into free agency.
  • Rider fans zeroed in on the team’s linebacking corps, saying the loss of Moncrief and the status of pending free agents Solomon Elimimian and Cam Judge is a potential blind spot for the club in 2020.
  • The panel went deep on the 2020 vs 2013 debate, discussing the pressures on the two different regimes. Rod said GM Brendan Taman and HC Corey Chamblin knew they’d be fired if they didn’t win it all in 2013, while he doesn’t feel that’s the case for Jeremy O’Day and Craig Dickenson in 2020.
  • Sportsnet’s Andy McNamara (former Voice of the Ticats, current Cleveland Browns podcaster and NLL play-by-play man) joined the show from Toronto to discuss Chris Jones’ future in Cleveland (he was to meet with new head coach Kevin Stefanski Friday morning), the recent history of the Browns, the NFL conference title games and the charm of the NLL.
  • You’ve gotta go back and watch the full length interview with Ticats offensive coordinator Jeff Reinebold who’s joined the show from London, UK. He recapped the Ticats 2019 season, discussed the QB situation with Masoli/Evans, previewed the NFL playoff games and discussed the difference between punting in the NFL versus the CFL. It was a great visit.
  • Edmonton Eskimos WR Davaris Daniels joined the show from Chicago. He’s entering free agency for the third time in his pro career and admitted to being “anxious”. He took the viewers inside a players’ life during free agency and also said Saskatchewan is the #1 choice for free agents in 2020. This was another fantastic interview.
  • Friday’s show is available for viewing now on our Facebook page or you can listen to the podcast by clicking on the PODCAST tab at the top of this page!

No one would lose their job if the Riders don’t win the Cup. Is the pressure greater than in 2013 – no. But the pressure is always intense. I don’t buy that the Riders are necessarily the #1 destination for free agents. Top free agents – show me the money. Micah Johnson was paid the biggest money for a DL last year & that’s why he came over. He was ecstatic to be a Rider – DUH. Reilly was over the moon to be in BC, Bo Levi never wanted to leave Calgary which has the worst facilities in the… Read more »
