FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN

If you love football, Fridays are for you on The RP Show! We tackled it ALL on Episode #1,087 on Game+TV, WQEE Radio, Podcast and YouTube Live. Here’s the rundown:

• RP and Moose Dupont kicked it off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Blue Jays open a key series at Tampa Bay Friday night, 2) The 49ers rout the Giants 30-12 on Thursday Night Football, 3) NHL Global Series heads to Australia with games this weekend featuring the Kings and Coyotes, 4) Week 16 in the CFL opens with a Friday Night Football doubleheader: Sask at Ottawa and BC at Edmonton, 5) The featured football game of the weekend is Colorado at Oregon in NCAA!, and 6) All other football.
• CFL On TSN analyst Jim Barker joined the show and answered plenty of viewer questions. He said he’s exactly the same in real life as he is on TV, but refuses to admit he’s a “media guy”. Jim called for an Ottawa upset of Saskatchewan but said the game of the week is BC at Edmonton. He also feels the playoff picture will get a little more clear this weekend depending on the results of the Montreal/Calgary and Hamilton/Toronto games.
• Markcast host Reid Johnson – America’s premier CFL podcast – joined the show from Seattle to talk about the potential merger between the XFL and USFL. He snickered that the CFL had its chance to join! Johnson said details are minimal but is hearing that it’ll be a 10-team league. Regarding why spring leagues have failed to take off in the U.S., Reid feels America suffers from Football Fatigue.
• In Hour 2 Rod and Darren played Bet Regal Deal Or No Deal for Week 3 NFL games, delved more into the CFL match-ups and previewed the weekend in Canada West.
• Mental Strength coach and former Ottawa & USC linebacker Shayne McGowan joined the show to discuss a variety of things including what happens to the Argos for clinching the East Division too early? (Rest vs Rust). He also explained the mental challenges facing teams the rest of the way in the regular season.
• The daily Key Auto Group poll question was: Which brand of football are you following the closest this weekend – NFL, CFL, College or Other? At press time the CFL had 70% of the vote.
• Thursday’s Rockstar of the Day was Gregg Zaun. Friday’s was Reid Johnson.
