FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN!

Fridays are reserved for the gridiron and boy did we have a lot to tackle on Episode #475 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talk Show! Read on for the rundown:

RP and Hall of Fame Roughriders broadcaster John “Frenzy” Lynch opened with The Warmup for Four Seasons Sports Palace covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) NFL Draft Round 1 leftovers (did the Bears win Thursday night?), 2) Aaron Rodgers wants out of Green Bay. RP says something’s missing in this story, 3) Thursday NHL leftovers, 4) CFL Notes – Disneyland is opening today in Anaheim and that could be a good sign for Canada!, 5) The Blue Jays host the Braves Friday night, and 6) The RP Show’s NHL Top 5 are: Vegas, Carolina, Florida, Washington & Pittsburgh while the Bottom 5 are: Vancouver, New Jersey, Anaheim, Buffalo and Columbus.
A special treat was a visit from Sportsnet 650 Vancouver’s Joey Kenward – a horse racing aficionado – who previewed Saturday’s Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs. The former Voice of the SC Broncos and Vancouver Giants explained how he got into the Sport of Kings (there’s a track behind Pacific Coliseum) and previewed the field. The visit ended up being a hit with viewers around the continent who chimed in with plenty of questions and predictions.
The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Does Aaron Rodgers have reason to be upset with the Packers? At press time over 60% of respondents said yes. Off a tip from Moose and viewers, we surmised that the reason behind Rodgers’ ultimatum is his fiancé Shailene Woodley who Rod coined “this generation’s Janet Jones”.
In the Hour 2 Second Half Kickoff we were joined by RP Show NFL Insider and former Aaron Rodgers teammate Tori Gurley. He explained that Rodgers being disgruntled with Green Bay has been brewing for awhile and predicted this will all end with a trade. Tori also delved into Night 1 winners and losers and said he’s excited for all players whom will be selected this weekend, and not just his friends and colleagues.
Next up was 9-year NFL vet Mike Pritchard from VSiN’s Betting Across America program from Las Vegas. Pritchard also predicts a trade involving Rodgers and compared it to his close friend Brett Favre’s exit from the Packers. Pritchard also recapped Night 1 of the NFL Draft and then explained VSiN and its founders, the Musburger family. John Frenzy told a story of once hosting famed American sportscaster Brent Musburger in his living room in Regina decades ago!
The MySask 411 Business of the Week was Pet Station, and we profiled the company on our weekly feature.
RP and Moose Faced Off on where Aaron Rodgers will end up. Dupes figures it’ll be the Denver Broncos while Rod opted for the Las Vegas Raiders. The Face Off is a presentation of UFZ Moose Jaw and The Mad Greek Restaurant.
