FOOTBALL FRIDAY RUNDOWN

Fridays are reserved for football on the RP Show and we tackled ALL the latest gridiron goings-on on Episode #971 of your favourite daytime TV sportstalk show on Game+ TV, YouTube Live and WQEE! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont kicked things off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Blue Jays opened the 2023 MLB season with a thrilling 10-9 win at St. Louis, 2) Thursday NHL leftovers including Oilers and Panthers wins, 3) More on the rumour of Tom Brady looking into buying the Montreal Alouettes this winter, 4) Wally Buono will go up on the BC Lions Wall of Fame this summer, 5) An XFL weekend preview, and 6) Randoms including NLL Week 18, Dub playoffs and more!
  • Hall of Fame Calgary Stampeders broadcaster Mark Stephen joined the show for a chat which spanned Hours 1 & 2. The guys reflected on the career of Wally Buono and mark observed that he had Hall of Fame-worthy careers in each of Calgary and BC! Mark went deep into the situation of Wally being fired by Stamps owner Michael Feterik following a 6-12 season in 2002 (Stephen didn’t feel Wally deserved to be fired). He also answered plenty of viewers questions including the brief CFL career of Dwayne The Rock Johnson in 1995. Stephen felt The Rock would’ve earned a starting position on Calgary’s D-line in 1996 if he’d stuck around.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which celebrity would you rather have own your favourite team – Tom Brady, Ryan Reynolds, The Rock or Other? At press time, Ryan Reynolds won by a landslide.
  • Popular XFL podcast host Reid Johnson (The Markcast) joined the show to preview this weekend’s games including the Friday night match-up of Seattle at Arlington. Perhaps surprisingly, there was a barrage of questions from viewers regarding the XFL and Reid answered them all.
  • Thursday’s Rockstar of the Day was Curtis Hunt. Friday’s was Mark Stephen!
  • Have a great weekend and we’ll see you Monday at 12 pm ET on Game+ TV, YouTube Live and WQEE live from Grey Eagle Resort & Casino.
