FRIDAY CAT COUNTRY COMMENTARY – 3 THOUGHTS IN :60
(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary at 9:50 am and 5:20 pm on Cat Country 98 FM)
IT’S FRIDAY … THAT MEANS THREE THOUGHTS IN SIXTY SECONDS. LET’S GO!
NUMBER ONE – TUNED IN THE NFL SEASON KICKOFF THURSDAY NIGHT BUT NOT FOR THE GAME. AS EXPECTED, THE SUPER BOWL CHAMPION KANSAS CITY CHIEFS ROLLED OVER HOUSTON 34-20 AND IT APPEARS THEY COULD BE EVEN BETTER THIS YEAR.
NO, I WANTED TO SEE THE PREGAME CEREMONIES AND ALSO WHAT THE 25 PERCENT CAPACITY CROWD LOOKED LIKE ON TV.
THE TWO TEAMS COULDN’T AGREE ON HOW THEY WANTED TO HONOUR THE COUNTRY, BUT THEY DID STAND AT MIDFIELD IN SOLIDARITY TO UNITE AGAINST RACISM.
IT MAKES ME WONDER IF IT’S TIME TO DO AWAY WITH THE NATIONAL ANTHEM ALTOGETHER. HOWEVER AS OF TODAY, I’D SAY NO.
NUMBER TWO – IT’S GETTING EXTREMELY UGLY IN THE CFL. THE TERMINATIONS HAVE STARTED ACROSS THE COUNTRY AND THERE ARE MANY, MANY MORE TO COME.
THERE’S ALSO MAJOR POWER STRUGGLES GOING ON AT THE TOP. IT APPEARS THE OWNERS AND PRESIDENTS WANT TO GO DOWN WITH THE SHIP RATHER THAN HAND THE KEYS OVER TO SOMEONE ELSE AND WALK AWAY.
FROM WHAT I CAN GATHER, THE CFL IS INDEED THE TITANIC.
AND NUMBER THREE – THE MCCRIMMON FAMILY HAS SOLD THE BRANDON WHEAT KINGS AFTER AN OVER 30-YEAR ASSOCIATION WITH THE CLUB. IT’S SAD BECAUSE THEY’RE ONE OF THE LAST TRUE HOCKEY FAMILIES TO OWN A JUNIOR TEAM.
BUT AS MY DAD’S FAVOURITE SONG GOES BY TRACY LAWRENCE – “TIME MARCHES ON”.
THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY ON CAT COUNTRY 98.
