TODAY, A LOOK AROUND THE SPORTS WORLD ON DAY #260 OF THE PANDEMIC.

THE NFL CONTINUES TO PLAY, SOMEWHAT UNDAUNTED, AS WEEK 12 KICKED OFF THURSDAY WITH A THANKSGIVING DOUBLEHEADER.

MEANWHILE THERE ARE NINE COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAMES SCHEDULED FOR TODAY’S BLACK FRIDAY. THREE HAVE BEEN CANCELLED.

ALABAMA COACH NICK SABAN IS MISSING THIS WEEKEND’S IRON BOWL SINCE HE APPARENTLY HAS COVID FOR A SECOND TIME. ORIGINALLY I WAS TOLD THAT WAS IMPOSSIBLE. NOW, APPARENTLY, NOT.

THE COLLEGE BASKETBALL SEASON TIPPED OFF ON WEDNESDAY AND WE’LL BE GETTING OUR FILL ALL WINTER LONG ON TSN. GREAT!

THE NHL IS STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW IT’LL PLAY BEGINNING IN JANUARY, BUT HAS REALLY GONE DARK WHILE THEY MAKE PLANS. WHEN’S THE LAST TIME WE SAW OR HEARD FROM GARY BETTMAN?

THE NBA IS COMING BACK DECEMBER 22ND, AND THE ONLY GLITCH IS THAT THE RAPTORS HAVE MOVED TO TAMPA BAY. OH, AND THE LEAGUE WILL LARGELY PLAY WITHOUT FANS.

THE CFL’S COMING OFF A PRETTY SUCCESSFUL GREY CUP UNITE WEEK, AND ARE NOW FURIOUSLY TRYING TO MAKE PLANS TO PLAY, WITH FANS APPARENTLY, IN 2021.

THERE ARE REPORTS THAT CFL TEAMS WANT TO PAY THE BARE MINIMUM TO PLAYERS NEXT SEASON, AND THAT’S BEEN LABELLED “OUTRIGHT COLLUSION” BY SPORTSNET’S ARASH MADANI.

FROM WHERE I SIT, THE CFL HAS SOME INCREDIBLY MASSIVE HURDLES TO CLEAR TO GET ONTO THE FIELD IN 2021.

AND AS FOR JUNIOR HOCKEY, AS WE’VE DISCUSSED ALL WEEK, IT’S ON TEMPORARY PAUSE. ALL WE CAN DO IS PRAY FOR THE BEST THERE, AND HOPE THE GOVERNMENT HAS A HEART.

THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY ON CAT COUNTRY 98.
