A coupla three or more thoughts entering the weekend …

#1 – Everyday on the RP Show we open with the Big Story and I don’t care who you are; the big story right now is the Masters. Of course I’ve caught a bit of it and Rory McIlroy & Sam Burns share the lead after the first round at 5-under. I’m not anti-golf – in fact I’ll be at a Masters Watch Party at SoFi Center on Saturday – but just don’t ask me to play. The SoFi Center is home to The Golf League, and owned by Tiger Woods. Look it up.

#2 – Another night, another clinching in the NHL. On Thursday the Utah Mammoth clinched a playoff berth with a 4-1 win over Nashville. They’re claiming it’s their first playoff berth in franchise history since they were allowed to shun the history of Winnipeg Jets 1.0 and the Arizona Coyotes. That still doesn’t sit right with me but on the list of things for me to be concerned with, that sits pretty low.

#3 – Speaking of the Jets … they won 3-2 in St. Louis on Thursday and sit three points out of the final playoff spot with four games to go. Oh, and Mark Scheifele notched his 99th point of the season. The only player to hit 100 in franchise history was Marian Hossa, with the Atlanta Thrashers.

See! The Jets aren’t too good to honour their franchise roots in Atlanta! Ahhhh, never mind.

#4 – Prime Minister Mark Carney visited the Montreal Canadiens dressing room last night after their 2-1 home victory over Tampa Bay. Uh oh.

#5 – There were some hella entertaining games in Las Vegas on Thursday at the Frozen Four. It was the NCAA mens college hockey semifinals and Denver got past Michigan in double OT while Wisconsin beat North Dakota in the earlier game. T-Mobile Arena looked packed for the matches and my Vegas insiders say The Strip is jammed with college hockey revelers. Wisconsin will meet Denver in Saturday’s final in Sin City.

That town’s gonna wonder what it ever did before hockey.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.

…. for you to post that is second level. The kids will eventually find the show American Primeval and Saskatoon’s very own Kim Coates plays a historical figure shedding light on that aspect. On a comparative and even worse scenario is that little of Saskatchewan’s history is accurate. People can take that for what it’s worth too. With respect to the Jets and Utah Mammoth. With the Jets they are the Atlanta Thrashers dressed up in new uniforms playing off the 1.0 version. Unfortunately, the Winnipeg Jets 1.0 are in the dust bin of history and it’s nice True North… Read more »

Good to see carney visiting the habs last night, they are cursed now! Just like anything the libs touch, turns to ruins.

Also, just my opinion but I think once a team moves to a different city a new era starts and the old stops when the team leaves. The jets are the jets, not thrashers.

Mark Carney visiting the Edmonton Oilers and Montreal Canadiens is just political opportunism.

Hockey Players and Alpha Males LOVE President 45&47.

This guy walks into a room and players can just feel his estrogen supplements permeating out of him.
