FRIDAY COMMENTARY – I HAD A DREAM

(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary at 9:50 am and 5:20 pm on Cat Country 98 FM)

IT’S DAY 4 OF CFL FREE AGENCY BUT MANY ARE DECLARING THE PERIOD OVER ALREADY.

AT LEAST, ROUGHRIDERS G-M JEREMY O’DAY HAS SAID THEY’RE DONE AFTER A BUSY TUESDAY-WEDNESDAY OF SIGNING A HALF DOZEN OR SO PLAYERS.

I’M GONNA RESERVE JUDGMENT ON FREE AGENCY WINNERS AND LOSERS, OR EVEN GREY CUP FAVOURITES UNTIL WE’RE AT LEAST GUARANTEED OF A SEASON.

HOWEVER THAT DIDN’T STOP THE TSN PUNDITS FROM EXAMINING THE PROS AND CONS OF THE WEEK AND BY THE WAY, HATS OFF TO TSN FOR SOME GREAT COVERAGE FROM THEIR WEBSITE (EVEN IF IT DIDN’T MAKE IT TO SPORTSCENTRE).

REGARDING THE FREE AGENCY WINNER, DAVIS SANCHEZ SAYS MONTREAL, FARHAN LALJI SAYS EDMONTON AND MATTHEW SCIANNITTI SAYS TORONTO.

REGARDING GREY CUP FAVOURITES, SANCHEZ IS GOING WITH HAMILTON, AGAIN FARHAN SAYS EDMONTON, AND SCIANNITTI IS GOING WITH WINNIPEG.

DOES IT MATTER THAT I HAD A DREAM SASKATCHEWAN BEAT MONTREAL 41-3 IN THE GREY CUP?

NO IT DOES NOT.

NOR DO THE PROGNOSTICATIONS OF OUR FRIENDS AT TSN BUT KUDOS TO THEM FOR OFFERING THE ANALYSIS. IN THE CFL, NOTHING’S EVER BEEN WON IN FEBRUARY SO IT’S FARRRR TOO PREMATURE TO DRAW ANY CONCLUSIONS.

I’M CERTAIN THE ROUGHRIDERS WILL BE SAYING, “WE’LL DO OUR TALKING ON THE FIELD” AND THEY’D BETTER, SINCE THEY WERE SHUTOUT OF TSN’S OFF-SEASON ZOOM AWARDS.

THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY ON CAT COUNTRY 98.

Well, that sounds about right if I remove the green glasses. Hamilton lost 2 guys – Dean & Levels but Santos-Knox, 26, makes up for Dean – & they were 15-3. Winnipeg didn’t lose anyone of note & signed a top notch receiver in Mitchell. Big question there is can Collaros play a full season (unlikely). Nobody behind him. A little fragile is Winnipeg IMO. Edm vastly improved @ DB with Rose, Minchey, Gabriel & Grymes & they were 1st vs the pass in 2019. Sewell out, Lemon in, O’Donnell out, Rogers back & Dennis in, Collins out, Walker in,… Read more »
