A coupla three or more thoughts entering the weekend …

#1 – Not only is it September 11, but it’s the 25th anniversary of the day the world changed forever. 2,977 people lost their lives in the worst terrorist attacks in North American history that day and today will be filled with “Where were you?” moments and reflections on the day the world stopped spinning.

On Thursday I was interviewed about the events surrounding that day a quarter century ago, and how it affected our lives with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, as I was the voice of the team at the time. One of our players, Lloyd “Rocky” Henry, was beside himself because his uncle was a security guard in the World Trade Center. Turns out, he made it out safely.

We bussed to Calgary for that week’s game – air travel was grounded – but were stranded for days and with bank accounts frozen, The Westin Hotel Calgary had to float us a cash loan to cover per diem.

But for the first time ever, I don’t recall any players complaining about it.

The world was a different place before that. Probably better.

#2 – I loathe when news and sports collide, but actually don’t mind when different sports overlap. Like for instance Thursday night when Florida Panthers stars Brady & Matthew Tkachuk rang the Hurricane Siren prior to the Miami Hurricanes home game against Florida A&M at Hard Rock Stadium. The brothers are everywhere in South Florida as training camp gets set to open in just under a week. It’s gonna be a fun winter.

Oh, and the Canes covered the 59.5-point spread, humiliating the Rattlers 77-7. The story on those cupcake, early-season, non-conference College Football games is for another time.

#3 – Not gonna lie — I’m really looking forward to Saturday’s quadruple header in the CFL. Some fans are bitching about it but they’re always gonna bitch about something. It’s fun to plan how much of each game I’m gonna watch, and for how long.

You don’t walk into a buffet and ask how you’re gonna eat it all. You have to have a strategy, and that’s what makes it fun.

At least, it is for me.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.

Lest we never forget. CIA Black Ops backed Osama Bin Laden to take out the Taliban. They used hin prior to take out the Soviets in Afghanistan. Saudi Arabia allowed him to live there rent free. Cheney/Rumsfeld sat on Intelligence a plan was in motion. It was a “surprise me with what you come up with”. He lifted the idea from a Tom Clancy novel. Actor James Woods reported suspicions of a test run on August 1. September 12 the FBI was outside his house at 7:15 am to follow up on that report…. AIPAC/Israel wanted to destabilize the middle… Read more »

Why Afghanistan? Heroin upon Heroin fields all protected. Taliban wanted to get rid of those. The drug trade endorsed by the CIA/AIPAC fuels the military/public/homeless industrial complex.

Add in the government contract money laundering through gaming/property development etc.

Quite the world.

Ukraine is the new Afghanistan. They can all run a lot of money/drugs and washing through there.

God Bless the USA and Putin’s Russia.

Miami played every one of the 120 players on the roster and still scored. If the Rattlers are serious about their program. Which they are not. They will take their L and $2M payday to build facilities to attract the JUCO players that end up there. From there take another beating and $2M to pay for a coaching staff. Appalachia State sent Michigan into the wilderness doing this. Florida State became Florida State because Bobby Bowden did this. I look at who is coaching there. Another DEI “I can relate to the players …”type Oh and had he even tried… Read more »
