FRIDAY COMMENTARY – TREAT YOURSELF

(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary on Cat Country 98 FM & Rock 98.5 FM)

A FEW THOUGHTS IN TODAY’S COMMENTARY TO WRAP UP WHAT’S BEEN A TUMULTOUS WEEK …

FIRST, IF YOU DIDN’T HEAR THURSDAY NIGHT THEN YOU LIKELY DID BY THIS MORNING; JOEL QUENNEVILLE HAS STEPPED DOWN AS COACH OF THE FLORIDA PANTHERS IN THE WAKE OF THE CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS SEXUAL ABUSE SCANDAL FROM 11 YEARS AGO (WHICH ONLY RECENTLY CAME TO LIGHT).

MY THOUGHTS ARE KNOWN ON THIS, AND I’M NOT INTERESTED IN DEBATING IT MUCH LONGER. WE CAN ALL AGREE THAT IT’S A SAD SITUATION AND WE STILL WONDER HOW IT COULD’VE BEEN PREVENTED.

I GOT TWO PHONE CALLS THURSDAY FROM HOCKEY INSIDERS SAYING THIS WHOLE SAGA IS FAR FROM OVER, THE ENTIRE TRUTH HAS YET TO COME OUT, AND IT’S BEST FOR ME TO TAKE A KNEE.

SO I AM.

NEXT – WEEK 13 IN THE CFL KICKS OFF TONIGHT WITH A FRIDAY NIGHT DOUBLEHEADER AND IF YOU’RE LIKE ME AND CFL FOOTBALL MAKES YOU FEEL GOOD INSIDE, THIS MIGHT BE FOR YOU.

REMEMBER IT WAS MONDAY THAT THE OTTAWA REDBLACKS FIRED GM MARCEL DESJARDINS AND TONIGHT’S THE FIRST TIME THEY’LL TAKE THE FIELD SINCE.

MARCEL’S FIRING FEELS LIKE A MONTH AGO.

AND FINALLY, I’M ECSTATIC FOR THIS WEEKEND BECAUSE IT PRESENTS TWO WHL GAMES: MEDICINE HAT IN MOOSE JAW TONIGHT AND SWIFT CURRENT IN REGINA ON SATURDAY.

I’M GOING TO THE WARRIOR GAME WITH MY GOOD, AND LONGTIME FRIEND, FORMER VOICE OF THE PATS AND STAMPEDERS KEVIN GALLANT, WHOSE SON PLAYS FOR MOOSE JAW. ON SATURDAY I’LL BE CALLING THE PATS GAME ON TV ACROSS THE PROVINCE.

WE’RE ALL EXCITED ABOUT THE GAMES!

GO OUT AND DO SOMETHING YOU ENJOY THIS WEEKEND.

WE’VE ALL EARNED IT.
