Friday’s show was Episode #35 of The Rod Pedersen Show. Here are the highlights:

  • Rod and Dupes were joined on The Warmup by Hall of Fame Rider broadcaster John Lynch. They discussed Calgary’s 26-16 win over Toronto on Thursday Night Football and how the Argos gave the game away with 7 turnovers.
  • Their discussion created the daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question: Will the Toronto Argonauts win a game this season? 79% of respondents voted “yes”.
  • Star Lions OG Sukh Chungh was ruled out of Saturday’s Riders-Lions game due to injury leading Lynch to predict a big Rider victory Saturday night at Mosaic Stadium.  The Riders are favoured by 5-points.
  • RedBlacks play-by-play man A.J. Jakubec joined the show via video chat from Winnipeg, site of the Friday Night Football clash between the RedBlacks and Bombers. Winnipeg’s looking to go to 5-0 for the first time since 1960 while Ottawa is looking to avoid a 3-game losing streak. Jakubec predicts a big bounce back game by the RedBlacks and a great Ottawa debut by QB Jonathan Jennings.
  • Former Regina Mayor and current Boxing Canada President Pat Fiacco joined the bunker and talked about a variety of things. He talked about the process to get Mosaic Stadium built and how he’d like to see a new hockey arena constructed along the Dewdney Strip. He also had some strong words regarding the direction of the Roughriders and CFL attendance.
  • Edmonton Eskimos colour commentator Dave Campbell joined the show via video chat from Montreal where the Esks and Alouettes collide in the first of a CFL doubleheader on Saturday. Campbell says there’s always fireworks leading up to games between these two clubs including the addition of Johnny Manziel last season, Khari Jones making his coaching debut in Week 1 this season, and now the firing of Als GM Kavis Reed this week. Campbell feels this game should have been voted “Canada’s Game of the Week”.
  • FC Regina’s Kevin Holness appeared in the bunker to promote the huge soccer game on August 11 at Saskatoon’s SMF Field between Toronto FC II and the Sask Selects. Tickets are on sale now for the event which is part of the Saskatchewan Summer Soccer Series.
