FRIDAY SHOW RECAP: FOOTBALL FRIDAY PLUS JOHN SCOTT!

Friday was Episode #126 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:

  • Rod, Dupes and John Frenzy opened the show with The Rollout for Flooring Superstores. Since it was Football Friday, they immediately plunged into gridiron discussion including Jerry Jones’ tearful address to his Dallas Cowboys after Thursday’s 26-15 home loss to the Buffalo Bills. They then delved into the CFL Free Agent list which was announced on Thursday, and the latest news on the Coaching Carousel.
  • News came down during the show that Blue Bombers head coach Mike O’Shea would be addressing the media at 11:00 am CT. They debated what the news could be but as it turned out, TSN Winnipeg’s Darrin Bauming reported that O’Shea revealed contract extension talks have begun, but there’s nothing finalized. Bauming Tweeted that O’Shea said the chances are “pretty high” that he’ll return to Winnipeg.
  • Running back James Wilder Jr. joined the show from Southern California to explain why he was granted his release from the Toronto Argonauts on Monday. He’s got a few opportunities lined up, and also discussed why he didn’t like playing for the current Argos coaching staff. He said head coach Corey Chamblin and OC Jacques Chapdelaine don’t communicate with the players like coaches he’s had in the past, and he found that to be a problem.
  • The crew spent a good portion of the show discussing the 14 free agent CFL quarterbacks set to hit the market, and who’s the most attractive? The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who is the most-coveted free agent QB – Nick Arbuckle, Jeremiah Masoli, Matt Nichols or Chris Streveler? The runaway winner at press time was Masoli.
  • Rod mentioned that he’s heard there is a potential shakeup coming to the Roughriders coaching staff, but had no timeline on any announcement.
  • Former NHL enforcer John Scott joined the show from his home in Traverse City, MI to talk about his 10-year NHL career and being named to the 2016 NHL All Star Game. Scott said that although he wasn’t a skilled NHL player, he made no apologies for appearing in that game at the time, and still doesn’t. John said only elite hockey players make it to the NHL in the first place, and he was deserving of the opportunity. Clearly he made the most of it, being named the game’s MVP.
