LULAY LEAVING BC LIONS

VANCOUVER – Travis Lulay is leaving the B.C. Lions after a decade as a player and a year in the team’s front office.

The quarterback and his family are moving to Stayton, Ore., to join a family financial service’s company.

Lulay led the Lions to a Grey Cup title in 2011.

He was named the most valuable player of that game and earned the Canadian Football League’s Most Outstanding Player award that season as well.

Lulay retired prior to the 2019 season and joined the club’s corporate partnership team.

“My family and I have made the decision to return to Oregon,” the 36-year-old said in a video address posted Thursday on the Lions website.

“I’ll be joining the family business and raising the kids around grandparents and cousins.

“It’s a little bittersweet for us. Vancouver’s been home for well over the last decade.”

In 10 seasons as a Lion, Lulay threw for a career 21,352 yards and finished with a 63.5 per cent completion rate.

He threw 127 touchdown passes in 140 games.

Lulay earned a finance degree at Montana State where he set single-season and career school records in passing yards.
