MCCALLUM RETIRES A LION

VANCOUVER – Veteran CFL kicker Paul McCallum signed a one-day contract with the B.C. Lions Monday, allowing him to retire with the team he helped win two Grey Cup titles.

McCallum dressed for 339 games over 23 CFL seasons with B.C., Saskatchewan and the Ottawa Rough Riders, who ceased operations in 1996.

“The relationships, teammates, times in the dressing, practical jokes, that’s what I’m going to miss,” McCallum said at a press conference.

The two-time CFL all-star was named the top Canadian of the 2006 Grey Cup game, booting six field goals in the Lions’ 25-14 win over Montreal.

He also claimed the league’s most outstanding special teams award in 2011.

McCallum leaves with the second-highest CFL career point total with 3,131 and the second-most field goals with 718.

Don't be grouping a whole fan base in one category for the comments of one or two people. Every family has one. Every crowd has one. So a Million plus fan base will have a few morons. Plus if your going to name call. At least back it up with who you are and where your from. So that we too can judge you for those you represent.

Anon is 100% right about Dave Ridgway.
Paul never would have had a career here if Ray Jauch hadn't been so stupid!

Congrats to Paul on an awesome career. Amazing how rude people can be when they hide behind a screen.

I agree Darcy. The IQ level of some people on here barely is above the amoeba!! A great career seen it all won it all and yes a terrible miss but that's football. We see it in every league. He is a Hall of Famer and should be even considered for Plaza of Honor. Did an admirable job last year for the Riders considering the circumstances.

Here is an idea Rod. Since you do not read anonymous texts on your show. I for one am glad that you don't. Why not have a rule here that states the same thing. No postings will take place as anonymous. Everyone needs a screen name. Sure people can fool around with those screen names. But they soon become tired of having to change it. You could have people register to your site. For privacy issues you could request their 1st name and postal code. It sure would get rid of a lot of rif raf on here. I've had… Read more »

Read the blog friend. I suggested Screen names published. Just as TSN had it for years. Not a persons name. Big difference. Why do people have so much trouble reading in this Province.
It's been proven that the readers remain close to the same. Just postings do go down some. Simply because the in your face, disrespectful personal insults usually taper off.
