WEEK 12 IN THE NFL WAS WILD, AND WE LEARNED A LOT. I EVEN CAME OUT OF IT WITH AN INTERESTING QUESTION.

THERE WERE A FEW WALK-OFF FIELD GOALS WHICH ARE ALWAYS EXCITING.

THERE WAS A COACH-FIRING IN DETROIT WHERE THE LIONS TIED A CAN TO MATT PATRICIA.

BUT THE EPICENTRE FOR NFL NEWS WAS IN DENVER WHERE ALL BRONCOS QUARTERBACKS FOR SUSPENDED FOR THEIR GAME BECAUSE ONE OF THEM HAD TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID EARLIER IN THE WEEK.

THEY WEREN’T WEARING MASKS IN TEAM MEETINGS, AND THE NFL SHUT THEM DOWN.

BE HONEST – BACK IN THE SUMMERTIME WE ALL THOUGHT THERE WAS A GOOD CHANCE OF THIS HAPPENING DIDN’T WE?

THE BRONCOS SOUGHT TO HAVE THE GAME POSTPONED WHILE THEIR QUARTERBACKS SELF-ISOLATED BUT THE NFL (AND MORE SPECIFICALLY THE HEALTH AUTHORITIES), SAID “NO, YOU’RE PLAYING”.

THEY LOST 31-3 TO NEW ORLEANS.

IT WAS ACTUALLY THIS MORNING RIDING MY STATIONARY BIKE WHEN AN IDEA DAWNED ON ME — “CAN WE GET THE NFL TO PLAY YEAR-ROUND?”

OF COURSE WE CAN’T BUT IT’S SOMETHING TO SHOOT FOR. “NFL2” COULD PLAY IN THE OFF-MONTHS OF THE BIG LEAGUE, AND IN THE SAME STADIUMS.

GOD KNOWS THERE’S ENOUGH PLAYERS TO FILL OUT ROSTERS AND THE NFL’S THE ONLY LEAGUE THAT’S DEMONSTRATED A SUCCESSFUL WAY TO PLAY IN THESE CONDITIONS.

WELL, THAT AND THE NBA. BUT THEY HAVEN’T TIPPED OFF THEIR NEW SEASON YET AND THE NHL HAS ANNOUNCED NO PLANS.

DAYDREAMING. IT’S ABOUT ALL WE HAVE RIGHT NOW.
