Monday Commentary: Haute Couture
Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, CA

(Listen daily for the RP Commentary on All New Hits 98 & LTD Radio)
Mondays are always an interesting day!
Time to reflect on the weekend, and look forward to a fantastic week ahead.
Today’s commentary comes to you from the very chique Palm Desert, California where I had the good fortune of attending the wedding of Darren & Leanne Dupont on the weekend.
I’ve been most places, but have never been here. It lives up to its reputation – great weather, great desert views and the perfect climate.
People here like to golf and drink coffee. It didn’t take long to pick that up.
They also cheer for the local Coachella Valley Firebirds of the American Hockey League and it was a treat to take in their game on Sunday against the Calgary Wranglers.
Hall of Fame Oiler goalie Grant Fuhr does color commentary on the Firebirds broadcasts, and does a fantastic job. Check my social media for highlights of the fight of the year, and their state of the art arena.
Now as I prepare to host Monday’s RP Show before climbing on the jet back to South Florida, I’m getting up to speed on Sunday’s NFL & NHL happenings.
It was hard to miss the Cowboys’ upset victory over the Philadelphia Eagles as folks were blowing up my phone, knowing I’m a Dallas fan.
But we’ve gotta pump the brakes on this one. Jerry’s boys still aren’t in a playoff spot, and they can thank themselves for that. However it sets up the game of the year — Chiefs & Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day.
One of the biggest takeaways was Shedeur Sanders leading Cleveland to a 24-10 win at Vegas, in his first start. Another loss for the hapless Raiders, who fired offensive coordinator Chip Kelly after the game. (I didn’t see him on the field failing to stop Shedeur, but I digress).
In the NHL, the much-hyped Colorado/Chicago game was a defensive gem as the Avalanche blanked the Blackhawks 1-0. That means the Holy Child, Connor Bedard was kept off the scoresheet too.
Now, it’s time to look ahead. And be grateful we have so much wonderful sports to enjoy!
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.
