MONDAY COMMENTARY – THAT’S FOOTBALL

WELL THAT’S IT FOR A FOOTBALL SEASON.

AND IT WENT OUT WITH A BANG ON SUNDAY, WITH TOM BRADY’S TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS EMBARRASSING THE KANSAS CITY CHIEFS 31-9 IN THE SUPER BOWL.

SOOO MANY THOUGHTS COMING OUT OF THIS ONE.

FROM A PURELY FOOTBALL STANDPOINT, IT FEELS GOOD WHEN A TEAM REWARDS YOU. SO MANY PEOPLE WERE TRYING TO SWAY ME TO THE CHIEFS SIDE AND THEY OFFERED PLENTY OF GOOD REASONS WHY.

BUT THAT NAGGING FEELING OF NOT WANTING TO BET AGAINST TOM BRADY MADE ME STAND BY THE PREDICTION OF BUCS BY 7.

AS IT TURNED OUT, THEY WON BY 23 IN A GAME THEY CONTROLLED PRETTY MUCH THROUGHOUT. THE CHIEFS SUPPORTERS ARE HOWLING TODAY ABOUT THE OFFICIATING AND SAY THE STRIPES TOOK AWAY ANY CHANCE K.C. HAD IN THE GAME.

HOWEVER AS FORMER RIDER COACH COREY CHAMBLIN IS FOND OF SAYING: “THAT’S FOOTBALL.”

MORE THOUGHTS: HOW DID BRADY MAKE IT LOOK SO EASY TO WALTZ INTO TAMPA AND WIN A 7TH PERSONAL SUPER BOWL WITH A TEAM THAT’S BEEN A DOORMAT FOR A GENERATION?

THE HALFTIME PERFORMANCE WAS A LITTLE SUB-PAR. I’M A FAN OF CANADIAN ACT “THE WEEKND” BUT FOUND HIS SET A LITTLE SUB-PAR. THE MUSIC WAS GOOD, BUT THE HOUSE OF MIRRORS THING WAS WEIRD.

AND JUST A COUPLE OF LAST THINGS: I APPEARED ON SOME AMERICAN SHOWS OVER THE WEEKEND GIVING BETTING ADVICE AND I’M STILL TRYING TO FIGURE OUT HOW? I NAILED MOST OF THE BETS, BUT MASSIVELY WHIFFED ON THE OVER/UNDER OF SUPER BOWL AT 56.5. I TOLD EM TO TAKE THE OVER.

ONE THING I’VE NOTICED OVER THE PAST 10 MONTHS IS THAT COVERING THE NFL ISN’T THAT HARD.

AND THAT’S GOOD THING, LOOKING AT THE ROAD AHEAD.

THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY ON CAT COUNTRY 98.
