We were back at it Monday recapping a busy sports weekend on Episode #432 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talkshow! Here’s the rundown:

  • RP and Dupes opened with The Warmup for Four Seasons Sports Palace covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Sunday NHL leftovers (a night off from Scotia North Div wars), 2) The Scotties final ending was anti-climactic, 3) The Dub returns!, 4) CFL’s Covid testing pricetag, 5) The Jays beat the Yankees 6-4 in the grapefruit opener yet we were subjected to the Yankees broadcast, and 6) The Russell Wilson Saga. **Also the fellas reflected on appearing on Telemiracle 45 and other weekend events.
  • Moose Jaw Warriors GM Alan Millar joined the show from his Mosaic Place office to explain last week’s announcement that he’s taken a full-time role with Hockey Canada. Millar revealed that he’ll stay with the Warriors for six more weeks to transition his replacement and Hub Centre play, will be relocating his family to Calgary, assessed the 25-man Warrior roster in the Regina Hub Centre, and preview the 24-game East Division schedule. Millar reported that the WHL will be announcing some sort of competition prize for the East Division teams in the near future.
  • News broke during the show that J.J. Watt has signed with the Arizona Cardinals and OT Brett Boyko has signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The panel analyzed these moves and the impact on the teams and the players.
  • In Hour 2 we re-upped the Quick Six and were joined by Paul Figler, Founder of DUBNetwork.ca. Figgy dropped the big news that DUBNetwork has been acquired by Dupont Media Inc. as we’ll bring the WHL’s top news & analysis website under our umbrella! Paul covers the Red Deer Rebels for DUBNetwork and recapped this weekend’s sweep at the hands of the Medicine Hat Tigers and talked about which stars to be on the lookout for in this shortened season. Figler also gave details on what he knows about the streaming WHL broadcasts on opening weekend.
  • Lloydminster Bobcats Head Coach & GM Nigel Dube of Lampman, SK joined the show to explain the unique pinch his franchise has been subjected to. Dube said that as an AJHL franchise, they weren’t eligible for funding from the Saskatchewan government yet they’ve been shutdown by the Sask government from playing in their home arena due to Covid restrictions. Dube explained that their home arena sits 150 feet to the east of the Alberta/Saskatchewan border. The Bobcats are in conversations with various Alberta communities about playing out of their arenas and said his players are in Day 10 of a 14-day quarantine hoping to return to play soon in the AJHL.
  • 40 minutes of the show were devoted to Viewer Takeover and fans from around the continent discussed the Scotties final, tonight’s 7-game NHL slate, and much more.
  • The Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: How will the Jack Eichel Saga end? – Trade or Staying With Buffalo? At press time over 80% of respondents voted for A Trade.
