MONDAY RUNDOWN: GOLDEN KNIGHTS’ GARY LAWLESS!
We opened a new week with Episode #360 of The Rod Pedersen Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talkshow! Here’s the rundown:
- Rod and Dupes got it going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Dustin Johnson wins The Masters (the crew agreed it was an anti-climactic Sunday), 2) NFL Week 10 – Brady’s revenge and the Hail Murray, 3) Monday Night Football has the Vikings at the Bears, 4) Grey Cup Unite Week begins with Commissioner Randy Ambrosie’s Fan Address Monday afternoon (what will he say?), 5) The CFL SIM Grey Cup game goes Saturday night at 6:30 pm ET between the Roughriders and RedBlacks, and 6) NHL and junior hockey notes.
- The Argos announced a “new” logo which was their original franchise logo from decades ago while NHL teams unveiled their retro jerseys. Both became a theme throughout the show and RP’s Top 5 are 1) Kings, 2) Panthers, 3) Devils, 4) Stars and 6) Avalanche/Nordiques. He wasn’t taken with the retro designs of his favourite teams, the Golden Knights and Oilers. Dupes’ #1 jersey belongs to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
- Biliztik Board Game developer and founder Don Corby joined the show from Toronto to explain their new interactive board game which allows fans to play along at home with hockey, football and baseball games. It’s modelled after the old QB1 video game and will be a treat for families to enjoy this winter.
- The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who should be the head referee for the Inaugural CFL SIM Grey Cup – Al Bradbury, Dave Foxcroft, Tim Kroeker or Andre Proulx? At press time, Andre Proulx was winning.
- Hour 2 was simulcast on Game+ TV and Facebook Live. We reset the Quick Six show topics and then were joined by Vegas Golden Knights Insider Gary Lawless from Summerlin, NV. He discussed the Golden Knights’ third/retro jersey and how they honoured Las Vegas pro hockey with it. Regarding an NHL start date of January 1, Gary said he remains hopeful and said it all comes down to potential revenue rather than health. He pointed to NHL stars such as Connor McDavid who’ve contracted the virus, but recovered. Lawless also discussed the Golden Knights’ popularity in Canada and a return to normal in Las Vegas with all hotels and casinos being open for business.
