MONDAY RUNDOWN: STANLEY CUP AND CFL TALK!

IMG_7012

We kicked off a brand new week with Episode #515 of The RP Show – Canada’s Daytime Sports Talk Show – on Monday! Read on for the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont got it going with The Warmup for EECOL Electric covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final goes Monday night with Montreal at Tampa Bay (what are your predictions?), 2) Vladdy’s way out in front of MLB All Star voting, 3) CFL Notes – Zach Collaros has only started four games for Winnipeg and Cody Fajardo is the oddsmakers’ favourite to win M.O.P. 4) Do you as a fan care about CFL player Health & Safety restrictions?, 5) The CEBL tipped off on the weekend and the Rattlers are home Monday night to Hamilton, and 6) The Canadian Premier League kicked off Sunday in Winnipeg.
  • Rod has Montreal to win the Stanley Cup in six games, Dupes has Montreal in seven and Producer Clark’s taking the Lightning in six.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: How many games will the Stanley Cup Final go – 4 games, 5 games, 6 games or 7 games? At press time 6 games had over 60% of the vote.
  • 2010 Stanley Cup champion and Saskatoon product Brent Sopel joined the show from Clearwater, FL and said he’s cheering for Tampa and expects them to win it. However he feels the goaltending battle between Vasilevskiy and Price is a wash. Sopes talked about winning the Stanley Cup in 201o with Chicago and ending a 49-year drought, and how that’s the most special Stanley Cup win of the Hawks’ three in the past decade. The former Blade & Bronco answered plenty of viewer questions and told stories of his time in the KHL.
  • In the Hour 2 Second Half Kickoff we were joined by recently-retired CFL veteran defensive back Courtney Stephen from the GTA. He spent six years with Hamilton and one with Calgary and told stories of his career, including a deep analysis of the 2013 Grey Cup against the Riders in Regina. Regarding his decision to retire, he said it wasn’t that difficult due to all the uncertainty in the CFL at the moment (merger talk, wage cuts, etc.). A very smart cookie, Courtney’s started holding Financial Literary workshops for Toronto-area kids. He vowed to stay close to the CFL.
  • Tampa Bay Lightning TV voice Dave Randorf joined the show from his Tampa dwelling and previewed the series. Obviously he’s got the Lightning to win, and broke down the match-ups. Rambo reported the city is abuzz with Bolts fever. He’s also excited for the CFL season and plans to hold viewing parties at his Toronto home as soon as the Stanley Cup Final is over!
  • RP and Moose Faced Off on how much you’d pay to watch your team play in the Stanley Cup Final? Darren went with $2500 CDN while Rod opted for $3000 US. The Face Off is presented by The Mad Greek Restaurant and the UFZ Moose Jaw.
  • Monday’s show is available for viewing now on our Facebook/YouTube pages, you can catch the replay at 4:00 pm ET on Game+, listen to the podcast by clicking on the CONTENT tab or listen anytime to our 24-hour live audio feed at RodPedersen.com/ListenLive.
  • See you at 12 pm ET/10 am MT on Tuesday on Game+ TV and YouTube/Facebook Live!

LaBatte’s not playing I hear. Neither is Cofield. So 3 new faces on OL this year. Who moves into LaBatte’s spot? Boyko, according to our guy Derek Taylor on his show a while back, gave up the most pressures in the CFL in 2019? St. John who has been on 4 clubs in 4 years & on 2nd go around with Riders? I hope some of the rookies drafted are ready for prime time. Depth is looking very spotty.

This is a perfect time again to remind people why we have a ratio in a pro-league.
