MONDAY RUNDOWN: SUPER BOWL CHATTER & BARNEY UNLOADS!

We kicked off a brand new week with Episode #686 of The RP Show – Daytime Sports Talk – on Monday! Read on for the rundown:

  • RP and Moose Dupont got it going with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) It’ll be the Bengals & Rams in Super Bowl LVI and The RP Show will be broadcasting from the Westin-LAX next week in LA! Also, Tom Brady retirement talk, 2) Canada beats USA 2-0 in CONCACAF qualifying, 3) NHL weekend wrap including Evander Kane, Carey Price, the Jets & more, 4) CFL notes including Brett Lauther re-upping with the Riders, 5) The Rush spanked Panther City 16-7 in NLL play and 6) It’s Day 4 of the Scotties in Thunder Bay.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Will Tom Brady retire? At press time, results were around 50/50. Rod voted no while Moose voted yes.
  • Moose dropped a bomb with the suggestion that the Winnipeg Jets start the rebuild and deal Connor Hellebuyck to the Oilers. That got ’em talking! Our Winnipeg viewers seemed to feel the season is a write-off. A viewer in Edmonton said the talk on coffee row is Hellebuyck for Tyson Barrie and a first round pick.
  • SkySports NFL analyst and Alouettes assistant coach Jeff Reinebold joined the show from Europe. He felt the Bengals confused Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes on Sunday and Cinci QB Joe Burrow is the next Joe Montana. Initially he’s not buying the Bet Regal line of Rams -4 in the Super Bowl, saying he expects it to change over the next two weeks. Reinebold hinted that he’ll take the Bengals to win it all. Regarding the stellar play of LA QB Matt Stafford, Jeff feels he’s added by three of the NFL’s best receivers. And on Tom Brady, Reinebold figures he WILL retire, and will make the announcement on his own rather than allow insiders to let the cat out of the bag.
  • In Hour 2 for Great Western Original 16 Beer the guys talked about ticket prices for teams coming out of the pandemic. Moose favours a $100 season ticket for all CFL teams – and even some junior teams – as a way to entice fans back into the buildings. This discussion really go the viewers going.
  • Famed NHL pest and Bet99.net analyst Matthew Barnaby joined the show and agrees that it’s time for the Winnipeg Jets to start the rebuild however he feels the Oilers could get by with a lesser goalie than Hellebuyck. Regarding the signing of Evander Kane in Edmonton, Barney offered that Kane is “not a good human being” but the addition could work for the Oilers. Matthew also went deep into Super Bowl analysis and he’ll offer plenty of betting tips leading up to Super Bowl LVI.
  • Friday’s Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions was Ryan Thelwell. Monday’s was Matthew Barnaby.
  • Friday’s show is available for viewing now on YouTube and is also available on all major podcast platforms.
  • See you at 12 pm ET on Tuesday on Game+ TV, YouTube Live and RodPedersen.com/ListenLive!

I LOVED Barnaby as a player. He could be on my team any day and twice on Sunday. Google the section in his wikipedia page under “Legal Problems” lol That guy commenting on Evander Kane about what kind of a human being he is…..Barnaby makes Max Cady from Cape Fear look like Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mocking Bird. I can comment on both of them. Barnaby had a bad run and turned it around. Heart was in the right place, but he should be quiet. Evander Kane happens when a team loses it’s soul. They used to resign… Read more »
