We opened a brand new week with Episode #293 of The RP Show! Here are the highlights:

  • Rod and Dupes got it going with The Rollout for Flooring Superstores covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Maple Leafs get bounced by Columbus, 2) The NHL Draft Lottery goes Monday at 4:00 pm MT, 3) NCAA Football is on the brink of cancelling its season (Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence has started the hashtag #WeWantToPlay, 4) The latest on the CFL (Rod reports people are getting fearful for the jobs in the event of a season cancellation), 5) The Blue Jays haven’t won a series yet and are moving to Buffalo, and 6) The Raptors have reached 50 wins for a fifth consecutive season.
  • Regarding the CFL/MLSE story, RP said it’s grown to people thinking Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment is going to “buy the entire CFL”. However the host explained MLSE will simply be an investor in the League and he got further confirmation Monday morning that he’s “barking up the right tree”. Other than that, it’s not a story he’s chasing overly closely.
  • Famed sportscaster Mike Richards of SAUGA 960 Radio joined the show from Mississauga to discuss the Leafs ouster. Mike said he’s had to counsel his neighbours “not to jump”. The guys recapped the Play-In Round series and teed up the first official round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The guys spent a good deal of time examining the future of the Leafs and the ShanaPlan.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Who do you want to win the NHL Draft Lottery – Jets, Oilers, Leafs or Other? At press time, the majority of pollsters voted for Winnipeg.
  • Hour 2 was broadcast on Facebook Live only and we were joined by reporter Kate Pettersen, formerly of Argos TV and Oilers TV. Kate said she sympathizes with Oiler fans and feels their frustration is reasonable. After covering these Oilers this season, she feels everyone in that locker room badly wants to win. Regarding the CFL, Kate is optimistic for the league’s survival if they’re able to play in 2020 in the Winnipeg bubble.
  • CTV’s Don Hewitt joined the show to rejoice over his Montreal Canadiens knocking out Pittsburgh in the Play-In Round but feels they don’t have enough to go all the way. Don also examined the CFL/MLSE story and said it could be a boon for the CFL since MLSE Chairman Larry Tanenbaum is a staunch Argos fan. Hewitt also reflected on his time as the original Gainer The Gopher from 1977-79.
  • You can vote now on our Twitter poll for the Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions. At press time, Kate Pettersen was leading. Friday’s vote was won by John Frenzy, again.
