MONDAY SHOW RECAP
Monday’s show was Episode #16 of The Rod Pedersen Show. Here are the highlights:
- Rod, Darren Dupont and Mike Abou-Mechrek were in studio recapping Week 2 in the CFL. Abou referred to the Roughriders’ glass as “half full” despite their 0-2 start however he feels they’re in for a battle against the Toronto Argonauts who were embarrassed 64-14 by Hamilton on Saturday. Saskatchewan hosts Toronto on Canada Day at Mosaic Stadium.
- The panel expressed their support for the Toronto Argonauts who lost followers on social media after their support of the Toronto Pride parade on the weekend. That’s what led to Abou’s colourful quotes in the meme accompanying this post.
- Poor attendance at CFL games is one of the hot topics in the league through its opening two weeks. Viewers chimed in on the show’s Facebook feed saying ticket and concession prices are too high for the average Canadian football fan. A Facebook post questioning attendance from former Stampeders and Blue Bombers President Lyle Bauer sparked the discussion.
- Comedian Sinbad performed in Regina on Saturday night and his bio listed him as being voted one of the Top 100 Comedians of all-time. The panel was stumped to name more than 10 comedians, so they enlisted the viewers’ help. They reached 100 names in a hurry!
- Vegas Golden Knights broadcaster/reporter Gary Lawless joined the show via video chat from the Golden Knights’ practice facility to recap the NHL Draft. Lawless scoffed at the suggestion the VGK are in a salary cap crunch and said “That’s what happens when you have too many good players”. The former TSN Insider also downplayed exuberance for the 1-0 Blue Bombers among their fanbase and said their excitement level is just right.
- Saskatchewan Rattlers CEBL President Lee Genier also joined the show from Saskatoon and said The Rod Pedersen Show has a big following in the Bridge City. He encouraged fans who jumped on the Raptors bandwagon to continue following the sport through the Rattlers. They are home Thursday night at SaskTel Centre.RP
