MONDAY SHOW RECAP
Monday was Episode #31 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:
- Rod and Dupes were joined by two more Rider greats on Monday’s program: Kenton Keith and Stevie Baggs. More on that in a moment. Joining them in the bunker were Global Regina’s Taylor Shire and local sensation Amanda Ruller, a Social Media Influencer.
- In The Warmup, Rod and Darren talked about the biggest news in the CFL – Sunday’s firing of Montreal Alouettes GM Kavis Reed and the reported reasons why. There have been rumours of Reed potentially joining the Edmonton Eskimos as their next President, and the crew discussed whether the Montreal Gazette report about the reason for his firing would impact him ever working again in the CFL.
- They also discussed Week 5 in the CFL, and the epic men’s final at Wimbledon.
- Monday’s Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre Poll was: Who is your favourite CFL on TSN panelist – Henry Burris, Matt Dunigan, Milt Stegall or Mike Benevides? At press time, Dunigan was leading by a nose.
- Kenton Keith joined the show via video chat from his home in Austin, TX where he works as a personal trainer, coach and nutritionist. He recalled fondly his 3 1/2 years with the Saskatchewan Roughriders (2003-2006) where he was twice named an All Star and also West Division Most Outstanding Player. He said one of his regrets in life was not signing in Saskatchewan but rather with Hamilton when he returned from the NFL. He mentioned that it’s time he returns to Saskatchewan for a visit, given the fact his wife is from the province.
- Stevie Baggs joined the show from his home in Atlanta, GA where he’s working as an inspirational speaker, author and actor. His appearance was a laugh-a-minute as he and Rod recalled old times. However Baggs got serious when he recalled the 13th Man incident in the 2009 Grey Cup and how that blunder can be used as a microcosm for life when you don’t look after the tiniest details.
- Stevie also said he regrets not re-signing with the Riders in 2010, opting instead for a practice roster spot with the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals. He felt he would’ve had much more success with his football career if he’d stayed in Canada.
- Amanda Ruller is a Regina girl who’s got an impressive resume as a former member of the Los Angeles Temptations of the Legends Football League, and had a tryout with WWE. She talked about her role as a motivational speaker for Saskatchewan youth and women.
- Taylor Shire gave his thoughts on the 1-3 Riders as they return from a bye and what stories he’ll be covering for Global TV ahead of Saturday’s home date against the BC Lions.
- The show is available on our Facebook Page and also on this website by clicking on the PODCAST tab.
- See you Tuesday!
