Monday was Episode #55 of The Rod Pedersen Show. Here are the highlights!

  • Rod and Darren Dupont were in the bunker for The Warmup. They recapped Week 10 in the CFL which included the injury to Winnipeg QB Matt Nichols and the controversial ending to Saturday’s Montreal-Calgary game. Rod also mentioned he spent the weekend at Emma Lake, SK – 30 minutes north of Prince Albert – and how the sports fans in Lake Country are all enjoying the show. They like the fact that despite their cable TV carrier – Access, Shaw, SaskTel Max, Star Choice or Bell, the show is available to everybody.
  • They launched the RP Show NFL contest, asking viewers and listeners to Like and Share the show page, and RT on Twitter to be entered into a random draw for a pair of tickets to Thursday’s Raiders/Packers game in Winnipeg.
  • Rod was soon joined by the football pundits, including former Patriots, Packers & Riders DB Ventson Donelson, and Riders/Renegades/Bombers alum Mike Abou-Mechrek. Ventson believes the Blue Bombers can still win a Grey Cup without Nichols, saying “Defense wins championships!”. Both “V” and Abou feel the Stampeders were jobbed by the video review decision at the end of their game on Saturday. They agreed that although the Stamps were a victim of the rules, they felt Eric Rogers was in-bounds and the review call cost the Stamps the game.
  • The Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Did the Stampeders get hosed by video review on Saturday? 79% of respondents said “no”.
  • The crew wondered aloud if the 5-3 Roughriders stand a chance at finishing first in the CFL West? They agreed that they do, particularly with injuries to Calgary’s and Winnipeg’s starting QBs. Abou figures the 6-3 Eskimos are due to implode at anytime.
  • Ventson talked of his time in the NFL, when Rod Rust was Head Coach of the Patriots and life in Green Bay B.F. (Before Favre).
  • Abou and “V” also laid out a case why both should be considered for induction into the Plaza of Honour.
  • Long-time CFL DB/LB Tad Kornegay joined the show via video chat from his home in New Jersey, with the Manhattan skyline in the background. Tad regaled the panel with stories from his time in the CFL, appearing in 5 Grey Cup games, and winning two (with Sask and BC).
  • Rod mentioned that if anyone wants to know what Tad’s like, all they have to do is watch a video of comedian Kevin Hart because the pair are clones. Tad said, “Except I’ve been around longer than Kevin Hart, so actually, he’s more like me!”
  • Saskatchewan Rattlers President Lee Genier and Director of Marketing Raul Garcia joined the bunker to preview the upcoming CEBL Championship Weekend in Saskatoon this Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday at SaskTel Centre. Lee outlined the format, and described what it’s been like launching the franchise in Saskatoon.
  • In honour of show #55, the pundits recognized players who wore #55 in their careers. The group included Orel Hershiser, Junior Seau, Johnny Boychuk, Mark Letestu, Matt Dumba, Mario Demarco, Wayne Harris, Larry Murphy and Igor Ulanov.
  • Near the end of the show, Rod got a tip that Matt Nichols is expected to miss 4 games with an upper body injury suffered in Week 10. Around that time the Bombers announced Nichols has been placed on the 6-game Injured List.

Concurred after review,
Stampeders jobbed, robbed by CFL imbeciles with black and white shirts.
