We came in hot with a brand new week and Episode #274 of The RP Show! Here are the highlights:

  • Rod and Dupes opened with The Rollout for Flooring Superstores covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Washington Redskins announce they’ll change their name. Are the Eskimos next?, 2) CFL Hub City news – RP has learned that Saskatchewan is making a pitch to host the CFL although Winnipeg is still the frontrunner, 3) NHL training camps open on Monday. What about the positive Coronavirus tests with the Canadiens and nine Penguins being isolated?, 4) Poll Question: Which Western Canadian NHL team will make it the furthest in the Stanley Cup Playoffs? (At press time, the Oilers were leading), 5) Henry Burris is very upset he’s not mentioned as the top CFL QB of the 2010’s, and 6) CFL SIM Week 6 games: BC at Winnipeg, Calgary at Montreal, Toronto at Edmonton and Hamilton at Ottawa.
  • Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Alex Singleton joined the show from Thousand Oaks, CA where he’s getting ready for NFL training camp. He discussed his 2019 season with the Eagles (10 games played and five tackles), the Eagles outlook for 2020, and reflected on his three great seasons with the Calgary Stampeders. It was a lengthy, but entertaining, chat where Singleton compared Rider fans to Eagles fans, explained his non-import status in the CFL (his Mom is Canadian) and said he enjoys the CFL SIM games because they’re so realistic. The Montana State product admitted he’s a follower of the RP Show.
  • Hour 2 was broadcast on Facebook Live only and Olympic gold medallist and multi-Brier champ Ben Hebert of Team Koe joined the show from Calgary. He talked about Sportsnet’s decision to delay the Grand Slam of Curling season but expects the Season of Champions playdowns to begin on time. The Regina product talked about the landscape of Saskatchewan mens curling, how his sport should lend itself to proper social distancing, and gave his thoughts on the Stanley Cup Playoffs since he’s close with many NHL players.
  • The Voice of the Edmonton Eskimos Morley Scott joined the program to discuss the “name” controversy but said he doesn’t pick a side. He feels the Esks are “damned if they do and damned if they don’t” because there are many people who DON’T want the name changed. Regarding the CFL’s Return To Play, Morley feels he flip-flops on the issue on a daily basis depending on which information becomes available. Regarding Edmonton being a Hub City, Morley said their citizens are excited but it won’t really matter since fans can’t attend games anyway. The guys discussed the Oilers Stanley Cup chances and Rod surmised that the Oilers aren’t mature enough. He contends that Winnipeg is his pick to go the furthest, partly because their window is closing.
  • You can vote now on our Twitter poll for the Rockstar of the Day for RoxDar Supply Chain Solutions. At press time, Alex Singleton was leading. Friday’s vote was won by Eddie Steele.
