MONDAY SHOW RECAP: RICHIE HALL JOINS!

We were back at it for Episode 188 of The Rod Pedersen Show on Monday! Here are the highlights:

  • Rod and Dupes started things off with The Rollout for Flooring Superstore covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) A recap of their weekends, 2) Rod meeting David and Sarah Ayres in Saskatoon, 3) Brier, 4) Sportsnet’s female play-by-play duo for Flames/Golden Knights, 5) CFL happenings, and 6) The Saskatchewan Rush’s 17-7 pounding of the Vancouver Warriors.
  • Riders/Bombers/Renegades alum Mike Abou-Mechrek joined the bunker in Segment 2. They went deeper into the female play-by-play duo and Rod said while it took some getting used to, he’s happy for Leah Hextall and Cassie Campbell to be part of history. Abou said he didn’t care for Campbell’s commentary, but not because she’s a female. “I don’t care what you have in your pants,” Abou revealed. They launched into a deeper chat about their favourite – and least favourite – play-by-play commentators and the reasons why. This spawned an avalanche of comments from show viewers.
  • New BC Lions WR Dominique Rhymes joined the show from Miami, FL to talk about leaving the RedBlacks for the Lions (“It was situation-based, not money-based,” Rhymes explained). He said he’ll be playing on the same side of the field as Bryan Burnham, and hopes fellow BC newcomer Caleb Holley joins them. Rhymes said it’ll be a massive adjustment moving to the west coast because he’s only ever played in the Eastern Time Zone. He also talked about following head coach Rick Campbell to BC.
  • Winnipeg Blue Bombers defensive coordinator Richie Hall joined the bunker to talk about the 2019 Bombers Grey Cup win. However Richie admitted that the favourite of his four Grey Cup titles was 1989 because he was a player, and because Saskatchewan had waited so long. He got into coaching and life philosophies, what the Grey Cup title means to Winnipeg, and much, much more.
  • 3DownNation’s Justin Dunk joined the show via video chat to talk about the latest CFL news. He hinted that there doesn’t seem to be a resolution to the T.J. Jones situation on the near horizon. “Canada’s Adam Schefter” examined all sides of the scenario, and gave his thoughts on all the current CFL topics. He said there will be a scaled-down version of CFL Week during the Combine in Toronto.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Will Saskatchewan’s Team Dunstone win the Brier before they’re done? Over 80% of respondents said yes.
  • A secondary poll question was: Did you enjoy the all-female commentary of the Flames and Golden Knights? 60% of respondents said yes.
