TORONTO UNINTERRUPTED Canada and NFL Canada, announced on Monday a partnership to create an original digital series, Action Items, that explores the personal journey and social justice efforts of some of Canada’s most high-profile NFL players. Set to debut week of December 1st, the features will profile Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle, Eli Ankou, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, Chase Claypool, Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle, Christian Covington, and Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Neville Gallimore.

“Through athlete-driven storytelling, our partnership with UNINTERRUPTED Canada will continue to showcase how NFL players are creating meaningful change in their communities,” said David Thomson, Managing Director of NFL Canada. “We are excited to provide a platform for players to share their stories and amplify their voices to the large and growing Canadian NFL fan base.”

In each of their episodes, viewers will see that both Christian and Eli are participating in the NFL’s My Cause, My Cleats campaign, where NFL players will represent hundreds of charitable organizations that focus on causes from health and wellness to social justice and support for youth-focused charities. Fans can see Eli’s and Christian’s customized cleats during the NFL’s week 13 games.

“We are proud to partner with NFL Canada and champion the voices of proud Canadian football players who are using their personal platforms to create change and raise awareness of important social issues.” said Vinay Virmani, Chief Content Officer at UNINTERRUPTED Canada. “Our hope is that viewers take inspiration from their journey and the difference they’re making, both at home, and in their adopted NFL communities.”

Hosted by Canadian born and NFL veteran, Nate Burleson, the series debuts with Vancouver’s Christian Covington, as he addresses the rise of and his involvement in the Black Lives Matter movement, and Ottawa’s Eli Ankou and his ongoing fight to raise awareness of missing and murdered Indigenous women in Canada. Burleson, who attended the 2012 NFL Broadcast Boot Camp, has remained connected to the game since his playing days concluded by serving as an analyst on NFL Network and CBS.

The subsequent shows will air week of December 8th, and feature Abbotsford’s native, Chase Claypool and his efforts to raise mental health awareness and Ottawa’s Neville Gallimore, as he tackles the issue of race and what it’s like growing up black in Canada.
