SUNDAY IN THE CEBL: RATTLERS DROP TO 1-1, MONTREAL WINS

The defending champion Edmonton Stingers picked up their first win of the season at home on Sunday afternoon with a 84-71 win over the Saskatchewan Rattlers.

The Stingers ended the game on a 15-0 run with Czech Republic native David Pekarek scoring 10 of his 13 points in the final minutes, including the game-winning three. Edmonton improves to 8-3 all-time against the Rattlers, including the playoffs.

Meanwhile the expansion Montréal Alliance won their first game in franchise history in their home opener thanks to a couple of runs in the fourth quarter and the Elam Ending.

The Alliance trailed early in the game but fought back in the second half to beat the Scarborough Shooting Stars 80-70 in front of a noisy home crowd. Forward Dominic Green led all players with 36 points with help from guards Kemy Osse (12 points), Hernst Laroche (10) and Alain Louis (eight).
