THURSDAY COMMENTARY – FREE FAJARDO!

(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary at 9:50 am and 5:20 pm on Cat Country 98 FM)

WE’VE BEEN TALKING A LOT OF HOCKEY HERE LATELY BUT THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM IS STILL THE CFL.

THIS IS SASKATCHEWAN AFTER ALL.

TIME’S TICKING. WE’RE INTO MARCH, THE SNOW IS MELTING, BUT WE STILL DON’T KNOW IF THERE WILL BE A CFL SEASON THIS SUMMER, LET ALONE WHETHER WE’LL BE ABLE TO ATTEND IN PERSON.

I SUPPOSE THAT’S NOT THE CFL’S FAULT. VACCINATION INFORMATION SEEMS TO BE CHANGING DAILY – IF YOU’VE NOTICED – BUT WHAT STRUCK ME TODAY WHILE READING THAT NEWS WAS HOW THE CFL CAN’T REALLY PLAN FOR ANYTHING UNTIL THE MAJORITY OF CANADIANS HAVE TAKEN THEIR SHOT.

PERIOD.

AND THERE IS SIMPLY NO CONCRETE NEWS ON WHEN THAT FEAT WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED.

YET BUSINESS GOES ON. THE RIDERS HAVE SIGNED UP A STORM AND ARGONAUTS HEAD COACH RYAN DINWIDDIE SAID ON THE LEAGUE’S OFFICIAL PODCAST THIS WEEK HOW MUCH HE FEELS THE ADDITION OF CHARLESTON HUGHES WILL OVERHAUL THE IDENTITY OF THE TORONTO FRANCHISE.

HERE, ALL I CAN THINK ABOUT IS CODY FAJARDO AND WHAT’S BECOMING A MISSED OPPORTUNITY THERE. THE PROVINCE WAS JUST FALLING LOVE WITH THE NEVADA PRODUCT AFTER HE LED SASKATCHEWAN TO FIRST PLACE AND A 13-5 RECORD IN 2019.

THREE RIDER QUARTERBACKS IN THE LAST 50 YEARS HAVE BEEN NAMED WESTERN CONFERENCE MOST OUTSTANDING PLAYER: RON LANCASTER, KERRY JOSEPH, AND CODY FAJARDO.

HE WAS JUST STARTING TO RE-WRITE THE RECORD BOOKS WHEN THIS STUPID VIRUS TURNED THE WORLD UPSIDE DOWN AND SERIOUSLY THREATENED TO END THE CFL ALTOGETHER.

IF THAT HAPPENS, THE BIGGEST CRIME OF ALL WOULD BE NOT SEEING ALL THAT FAJARDO COULD’VE ACCOMPLISHED IN RIDERVILLE.

THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY ON CAT COUNTRY 98.

Hopefully Fajardo can duplicate his success but there is no guarantee. Most of the big name QB’s missed significant time in 2019. Among the 7 that had 3,000 yds+, Fajardo rated 4th in passing yds/game, more than 60 yds behind the top 2. Right now he is a one-hit wonder, like it or not. In the past 15 years, notably Jennings & Printers had 5,000+ yd seasons in their 1st year as starters & that turned out to be their best year. Willy’s 1st year starting stats were never eclipsed. Maas’ offence is pass heavy. Four of our OL return… Read more »
