Thursday Commentary: Nobody Knows

Buckle up.
This homestretch drive in the NHL is so wild and bumpy, you might just get bounced from the car!
There were three games Wednesday night and according to NHL Stats, three different teams held the final playoff spot in the West within a span of 30 seconds.
So to predict who’s going to get in or not, or who’s going to face whom in Round 1, is a fool’s errand.
Just sit back and enjoy the ride.
The action off the ice has been just as wild. The Toronto Maple Leafs dumped GM Brad Treliving on Monday and MLSE President Keith Pelley is getting raked over the coals for saying the Leafs braintrust didn’t expect Buffalo and Montreal to be as good as they are in that division this year.
Hey – I know Keith personally from prior stints with Sportsnet and the Argos – and he’s just being honest. There was really nothing he could say when facing the firing squad that would appease the angry masses.
I saw something that said TSN’s Darren Dreger reported the Sabres and Canadiens were upset Pelley mentioned them by name in his news conference.
Ummmm, who cares?
And then in Vegas we’ve got John Tortorella being 1-0 since replacing the fired Bruce Cassidy. Tonight the Golden Knights host Calgary in the fortress, which should be another easy two points, as Torts continues to put his stamp on the VGK in time for the playoffs.
Everybody wants to know how the Tortorella experiment will turn out in Sin City, but nobody knows.
And that’s the beauty of sport.
That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.

Roughriders will be terrible in the upcoming 2026 cfl season, horrible actually, don’t expect much hillbillies of riderville, don’t expect much. It’s back to the basement.
