MAYBE IT’S TIME TO THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX. OR … INSIDE THE BUBBLE.

IF YOU’VE NOTICED, SPORTS HAS SLOWED TO BARELY A TRICKLE. DON’T GET USED TO IT.

ALL WE’RE SEEING RIGHT NOW ON THE SPORTS NETWORK SHOWS IS NFL TALK, THE MASTERS THIS WEEKEND, SOME SOCCER AND THAT’S ABOUT IT.

WHAT WE’D NORMALLY HAVE RIGHT NOW IS THE CFL, NHL, JUNIOR HOCKEY, CURLING, UNIVERSITY AND JUNIOR FOOTBALL, AND OF COURSE THE NFL.

ON THE WEEKEND 260 OF SASKATCHEWAN’S DOCTORS WROTE A LETTER TO THE PREMIER ASKING FOR TIGHTER MEASURES TO GET AHOLD OF CONTROL. THEY EXPRESSED THEIR OPINION OF WHERE THIS IS GOING.

WELL … IF WE DIDN’T KNOW IT BEFORE, WE DO NOW; THE PREMIER IS USED TO HAVE PEOPLE SCREAMING AT HIM FROM ALL SIDES. IF HE LOCKED DOWN, HE’D HAVE THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY AND EVEN MORE SPORTS PEOPLE BEATING DOWN HIS DOOR.

FRANKLY, I BACK SCOTT MOE WITH WHATEVER HE DECIDES.

HOWEVER THE DOCTORS DID SUGGEST LOOKING AT WHAT THE MARITIMES ARE DOING WITH THE ATLANTIC BUBBLE. THEY’VE ESSENTIALLY CLOSED THE BORDERS AND ANYONE COMING IN HAS TO SELF-ISOLATE FOR 14 DAYS. IT’S NOT A LOT DIFFERENT WITH WHAT WE’RE DOING AS A COUNTRY.

WITHIN THAT BUBBLE, IT’S BUSINESS AS USUAL. SPORTS IS GOING ON, PRETTY MUCH WITHOUT INCIDENT. CASES ARE LOW AND THE ECONOMY IS CHUGGING ALONG.

SO HERE TODAY WE PROPOSE THE PRAIRIE BUBBLE. OUR SPORTS FACILITIES IN CALGARY, EDMONTON, RED DEER, SASKATOON, REGINA AND WINNIPEG ARE AS GOOD AS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD.

ALL THOSE LEAGUES SITTING ON THE SIDELINES RIGHT NOW WOULD BE ABLE TO PLAY, AND THOSE OVERLY CAUTIOUS TYPES CAN STAY HOME AND AVOID ANY RISK.

LET’S SEE IF IT HAPPENS.

THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY ON CAT COUNTRY 98.
