Ladies and Gentlemen, Thursday marked the the 489th Episode of The Rod Pedersen Show and here is the rundown for Darren’s fourth day of hosting:

  • Pillot Butte Storm’s new head coach and host of the Off The Hosel podcast, Drew Kocur, joined to co-host the show today. Kocur provided knowledge on the latest in the NHL leftovers from the Quick 6 Show topics.
  • Here are the Quick 6 Show topics, and they were: point one and two were recapping the Oilers and Jets game, point three was recapping other NHL playoff games. Point four was when Dupont and Kocur were analyzing Nazem Kadri’s recent hit. Kadri’s hit was subjected to the daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question: how many games will Nazem Kadri be suspended for the Avalanche? The option was one game, two games, three games plus or a $5000 fine. During the segment, most people wanted to see Kadri get suspended for three games plus. Point five was CFL leftovers from Hamilton Tiger-Cats owner Bob Young’s comments. Young recently stated that the Tiger-Cats would play, but he could not say for anyone else, and during that time, the CEO of the Redblacks, Mark Goudie, agreed with him. Crag Dickenson, the head coach of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, also tweeted out that he believes that the Riders will play in August, which the CFL stated is when they would play.
  • After the break, Dupont talked with Kocur about the CFL leftover, and Nazem Kadri hit. Another thing that was talked about was yesterday’s Capital Auto Mall poll question. Which of the four goaltenders in Canada would you want to lead through the playoffs? Yesterday Amanda Ruller was on the show and picked Carey Price, and Dupont picked Connor Hellebuyck, the current Vezina Trophy winner. That lead to Kocur and Dupont talking about the Habs and Leafs match up today.
  • After another break, formerly long-time host of Leaf’s TV and now the host of a new show, Paul Hendrick joined us in hour one to preview Leafs and the Habs playoff game today. What they talked about in the interview was about the Leafs being the favourites in the series against the Habs, how the current Leafs remind them of the old Leafs and if we can see the Leafs fans in the stadium for the future.
  • Starting off with hour two of the show, Sportsnet Sean Reynolds came on to recap what happened with the Oilers and Jets game. They talked about how the Jets managed to stop Connor Mcdavid and Leon Draisaitl, the go-ahead goal by the Jets’ Dominic Toninato, and when Nikolaj Ehlers and Pierre-Luc-Dubois are going to play in the series.
  • After Reynolds’ interview, we got the former host of NHL Cool shots now with Own the Room and OneUpSports, Dan Moriarty, joining us via video chat from California in hour two. What Dupont and Moriarty talked about in the interview is if the NHL teams in California( Los Angles Kings, San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks) can return to their old nickname of Death Valley and be competitive. Another thing they talked about was the Tampa Bay and Florida Panther series and reliving the time when Moriarty played a pre-season game with the then Minnesota Wild Expansion team. The interview concluded with Moriarty talking about his favourite hockey player he interviewed and celebrity.
  • After the break, we got Tanner Brightman, the owner and founder of Golden Ticket Sports and Hoop Factory, and he joined us to talk about the Canadian Junior Basketball league. Brightman talked about how the League came about and how their inaugural season will start next year. The League will consist of ten teams across Western Canada.
  • In Overtime, we got Viewer Takeover as Kocur and Dupont spent more time answering fans’ questions. They also talked about a little golf and Kocur’s new experience as the new coach of the Pillot Butte Storms. During the pandemic, Kocur spent the time as the new head coach of the Storm to recruit some players.
  • On Football Friday, it will be John “Frenzy” Lynch, Football Canada President Jim Mullin, 3Downation’sJustin Dunk and TSN Montreal Moe Khan.
