Thursday’s show was Episode #92 of The Rod Pedersen Show. Here are the highlights!

  • Thursday was a real fun show! Rod was joined in the bunker for The Warmup by The Silver Fox Kelly Remple and Darren Dupont. They talked about the CFL Trade Deadline deal which landed Zach Collaros in Winnipeg and how it may or may not workout for the Bombers. They discussed the Saskatoon Blades’ 2-1 home win over Vancouver on Wednesday (Dupes did colour on the Saskatoon broadcast) and the latest NHL news.
  • Darren brought gifts from the Blades for Rod’s desk which included a Wendel Clark Blades Bobblehead and a game puck. A gift from Canada West PR guy Evan Daum in Edmonton arrived during the show via courier. It was a Canada West football mini-helmet!
  • Famed NHL enforcer and Regina Pats alum Stu Grimson joined the show via video chat from his office in Nashville. It was a hilarious chat where the Grim Reaper recalled stories of WHL brawls between the Pats/Warriors and Pats/Wheat Kings, including the infamous “kookshow” in the Agridome featuring Brandon’s Ron Hextall and Brad Wells which people still talk about. Grimson then touched on James Neal with the Oilers and other NHL topics.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Which is Canada’s Game of the Week in the CFL’s Week 18? The whopping winner was Saskatchewan/Calgary on Friday at McMahon Stadium.
  • With that result, the guys previewed Friday’s game including who’s in and who’s out for the Riders and Stamps, the betting line, and much more.
  • The weekly Sask Snow Beef WHL Prospect Profile was of Cole Sillinger from the Medicine Hat Tigers. The 16-year old Regina product has 7 points in his first 8 games with the Tigers. Sillinger’s father Mike – an NHL great – joined the show to talk about Cole’s blossoming career, an update on his other two sons Owen and Lucas, and to discuss the first couple weeks of the NHL season.
  • Sportsnet’s Arash Madani joined the show via video chat from LAX. He covered Game 5 of the NLDS between the Dodgers and Nationals, and discussed the MLB Playoffs. Arash also chimed in with his thoughts on the Collaros trade, Bo Levi Mitchell, and the hiring of Pinball Clemons as GM of the Toronto Argonauts.
  • In honour of show #92 the guys recognized players who’ve worn number-92 and the group includes Zack Evans, Michael Strahan, Gabriel Landeskog, Jeff O’Neill, Rick Tocchet, Drake Nevis, Brian Guebert, Sheldon Napastuk and Michael Nylander.
