THURSDAY SHOW RECAP
Thursday’s show was Episode #19 of The Rod Pedersen Show. Here are the highlights:
- Rod was in studio with co-host Kelly Remple, who joined for the full two hours. Darren Dupont joined the show via video conference from Kelowna where he’s doing “Investor Relations”.
- The crew celebrated the fact the show has gone over 100,000 views on Facebook since its launch on June 3.
- The guys previewed Canada’s Game of the Week in the CFL, Edmonton at Winnipeg Thursday night in a clash of unbeaten teams. TSN’s Henry Burris joined the program from Toronto to talk about the game, and preview Week 3 in the CFL. Smilin’ Hank predicted the Riders will beat Toronto on Canada Day at Mosaic Stadium.
- Blue Bombers fan Dave Petrishen, The Sports Doctor, was in studio previewing the Bombers-Esks showdown. The panel went deep on if the Blue Bombers can overtake the Riders as the CFL’s marquee franchise. They felt the benchmarks are to surpass the Riders in TV ratings, attendance and merchandise sales. Facebook viewers chimed in with their thoughts, saying it’s possible, not likely.
- Former Riders, Argos and Ticats OL Peter Dyakowski joined the show from Hamilton where he’s seeking the Conservative nomination in his riding. He feels the Ticats are the frontrunner in the CFL East, but isn’t sold on Ottawa despite the RedBlacks’ 2-0 start.
- CFL great Kevin Glenn was announced as a 2019 inductee into the Illinois State Hall of Fame this week and the daily poll question asked if K.G. should be inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. 75% of respondents voted “yes”.
- Friday’s show will include Rod in studio with Hall of Fame Rider broadcaster John Lynch, Leader Post columnist Rob Vanstone and Rider Hall of Famer Nate Davis. Former Bomber Troy Westwood will join the show from Winnipeg to recap the Bombers’ win over Edmonton. Argos podcaster Frank Stanisci will be on the show as well.
