Thursday was Epsiode #53 of The Rod Pedersen Show. Here are the highlights!

  • Rod, Dupes and The Silver Fox Kelly Remple were in the bunker for The Warmup. They discussed the morning’s sports hottest sports topics. Rod and Darren recapped Wednesday evening’s sports celebrity dinner in Delisle, SK and told the hilarious stories from speakers Theoren Fleury, Georges Laraque and Dennis Hull.
  • The next guest was Len Antonini from Regina Minor Football. He and Dupes announced the inaugural Rod Pedersen All Star/Celebrity Football Weekend coming up Labour Day Weekend. CFL Alumni and celebrities will play a charity flag football game at RMF’s Leibel Field on Saturday, August 31. All proceeds go to RMF and the Regina Riot Football Club. You can purchase tickets at www.rodpedersenshop.com. The boys also announced a massive tailgate party before the Labour Day Classic, and a live pregame show on Facebook Live!
  • In honour of Episode #53, the panel identified players who’ve worn number-53 throughout their career. The group includes Huskies/Hilltop lineman Ken Cheveldayoff, MLB’s Don Drysdale, Rider greats Jack Abendschan and Gerry Hornett, the NHL’s Derek Morris, Jeremy Reich and Ryan White, and the NFL’s Bill Romanoski and Mick Tinglehoff.
  • Kelly Remple took over Rod’s Rant for Bronco Plumbing & Heating for the day, and talked about how minor football is safer than it’s EVER been due to concussion protocols and a step-up in medical aid. He is the coach of the RMF’s Mustangs.
  • The Voice of the Regina Pats, Phil Andrews, dropped by the bunker and the guys discussed a wide range of things including the upcoming WHL season, could Saskatchewan ever host an NHL team?, and much more.
  • NFL/CFL Insider Tori Gurley joined the show via video chat and dropped bombs from his NFL visits to Cleveland and Los Angeles. He said Raiders star Antonio Brown is acting like a baby, and Cardinals rookie QB Kyler Murray was set up NOT to fail in the Cards’ preseason opener. It’s must-see viewing! Tori also said he’ll be attending Friday’s Argos/Eskimos game along with the Toronto fair, and would have a report next week.
  • The former Voice of the Roughriders, Geoff Currier (1986-1997), joined the show from Kenora, ON where he is vacationing. The CJOB Winnipeg talkshow host talked about the plight of the Blue Bombers heading into their Thursday Night Football Game against BC.
