THURSDAY SHOW RECAP: GIRL POWER DAY!

Our last show before Easter was loaded with some Girl Power on Episode 211 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:

  • Rod and Dupes opened with The Rollout for Flooring Superstore covering these Divine Nine show topics: 1) Bravo CFL! There’s lots of 3-down news, including the Riders’ release of QB Bryan Bennett and the reasons why, 2) A former Eskimos staffer suing the club for wrongful dismissal (the guys agreed they’d prefer to steer clear of that, and let the parties sort it out), 3) A potential wide open CFL free agent draft, and who your top 3 picks would be, 4) Thoughts on Tom Brady’s interview on Howard Stern, 5) What are you watching on TV during self-isolation?, 6) The Masters was to begin on Thursday, 7) Opinions on if there will be a CFL season or not? (It’s up to fans whether they want to be optimistic or pessimistic) 8) A potential NLL playoff format/tournament, and 9) A formal announcement on the debut of the RP Show on Game+ Network being delayed due to Coronavirus.
  • RP Show pundit Derek “Duke” Meyers joined the show from his home to discuss all of the above topics.
  • Sprint Car racer Amber Balcaen joined the show from her home in North Carolina to talk about her career, growing up in a racing family in Winnipeg, her show Racing Wives on CMT, and her upcoming marriage to Roughriders defensive lineman Jordan Reaves. Amber talked about her long road to get to where she is (she revealed she’s only accomplished 1% of her goals), securing sponsorship on the racing circuit, and marrying into the Reaves sports family. They love visiting Jordan’s brother Ryan of the Vegas Golden Knights and feels Rider games at Mosaic Stadium are similar in energy to Golden Knights games at T-Mobile Arena. Amber accepted a challenge from RP Show Director Jordan Blodgett for an IRacing showdown.
  • Social media influencer Amanda Ruller joined the show via video chat from her home to recap Wrestlemania 36, her tryout with the WWE in Orlando, and her role as Saskatchewan Rush in-game host at SaskTel Centre. Amanda and the panel debated the “real-ness” of pro wrestling, and many more topics.
  • News broke during the show that Kirk Muyres is joining Team Dunstone as 2nd, and Kirk joined the show via video chat. He said this announcement is more of a merger than a case of “If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em”. Kirk talked about the adjustment from skip to 2nd, and what this move means for the future of mens curling in Saskatchewan.
  • Ty McGauley from Om Hockey Systems joined the show to discuss his player training program, and the role hockey plays for First Nations youth. He announced that they are expanding with a location in Edmonton.
  • Thursday’s show is available for viewing now on our Facebook page, you can listen to the podcast by clicking on the PODCAST tab at the top of this page, or you can listen anytime to our 24-hour live audio feed at RodPedersen.com/ListenLive presented by SUDS Full Service Car Wash in Regina!

The employee asserts he was told “to keep players on the injury list so they wouldn’t count against the CAP” to paraphrase his comments. I think the term “healthy scratches” is often used by media & I have often heard it discussed whether to bring back a player early off the 6 game or leave him there an extra game or 2 for CAP purposes. For instance, using the Riders as an example, LaBatte came back after 12 games & spending 2 stints on… Read more »
