THURSDAY SHOW RECAP: HAPPY HALLOWE’EN!

Thursday was Episode #106 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:

  • Rod and Dupes were joined by CTV Regina’s Darrell Romuld for The Rollout for Flooring Superstore. They touched on the Andrew Harris MOP controversy in Winnipeg and examined all sides. They also talked about Washington’s Game 7 World Series win over Houston, and if the Nationals’ victory tugged at any heartstrings of Expos fans. Rod admitted to getting “choked up” seeing the former Expos franchise win the world title.
  • Since Thursday is Hallowe’en, Dupes came dressed up as RP Show co-host Kelly Remple (The Silver Fox). Rod mentioned that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
  • The panel debated all the current CFL stories including the Eskimos sitting down Trevor Harris for Saturday’s game at Saskatchewan, the Bombers QB in the playoffs, and Grey Cup contending teams.
  • 7-year NHL veteran Eric Gryba joined the show from Saskatoon to discuss his career and life after the NHL. The former Senator, Oiler and Devil discussed signing with the Kindersley Sr. Klippers hockey team, his new grilling show and partnership with Sask Snow Beef, and his charitable causes in Saskatchewan.
  • Leader Post columnist Rob Vanstone joined the bunker in Hour 2 to discuss his his new book 100 Things Roughriders Fans Should Know & Do Before They Die. R.V. also told several stories of covering the team over the past 30 years and offered several quirky statistical anecdotes.
  • Vancouver Canucks broadcaster Brendan Batchelor joined the show from Southern California during the club’s current road trip. The Canucks are 8-1-1 in their past 10 and are the talk of the NHL. “Batch” talked about the deft moves by Canucks GM Jim Benning and the non-nonsense style of head coach Travis Green.
  • Curler Kirk Muyres joined the bunker to discuss the Team Dunstone win at the Grand Slam of Curling event in North Bay, ON and what it was like pinch-hitting on Team Koe. He also outlined the pro curling schedule ahead, and discussed the Junior Curling Tour in Saskatchewan.
  • The daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll question was: Should Andrew Harris be given MOP consideration given his positive steroid test? Roughly 90% of respondents said no.
  • In honour of show #106, the guys debated sports figures who’ve worn number-6 in their career and the group included Rob Bagg, Shea Weber, Warren Jones and Pierre Mondu.
