Thursday’s show was Episode 115 of The Rod Pedersen Show! Here are the highlights:

  • Rod and Dupes were joined in the bunker by the Silver Fox Kelly Remple for The Rollout for Flooring Superstore. They immediately jumped into the storylines around Sunday’s CFL West Final between the Blue Bombers and Roughriders in Saskatchewan. Rod mentioned the narrative coming out of Winnipeg about QB Zach Collaros’s motivation going into this game and if it’s true that the Riders gave up on Zach by trading him to Toronto this summer? None of the panel thought that the Riders did, and the whopping majority of respondents on the daily Capital Auto Mall/Universal Collision Centre poll agreed.
  • They then swung to the Riders’ side of things and everyone agrees the Riders’ fortunes rest squarely on the health of QB Cody Fajardo. They discussed the media reports from Thursday’s practice and questioned how severe the injury is.
  • Hall of Fame Rider therapist Ivan Gutfriend joined the bunker in Hour 2 for a wide-ranging chat about player injuries, the health of Fajardo, and the match-ups going into this game. Ivan also recalled how RB Wes Cates took shots in his foot to numb the pain during the 2007 Grey Cup run. Ivan said that was one of the most heroic displays he’s ever seen.
  • CFL Playoff analyst Shawn Lemon of the BC Lions joined the show via video chat from Orlando, FL to recap the semifinal games and preview the conference championship match-ups. He felt Calgary QB Bo Levi Mitchell tipped off the Stamps game plan in an interview the day before the game! The Lemonator predicts Hamilton and Winnipeg will win this Sunday.
  • BC Lions offensive line coach Kelly Bates joined the show from Vancouver to discuss the Lions year and his mid-season hiring to take over the O-line. Kelly took Hamilton and Winnipeg to win on Sunday. He also said he’ll be attending this weekend’s Canadian Bowl between the Langley Rams and his former team, the Saskatoon Hilltops.
  • Maple Leafs YouTuber Steve Dangle joined the show from Toronto and went off on the Leafs’ loss to the Islanders in New York on Wednesday and said the highest-paid coach in the NHL – Toronto’s Mike Babcock – shouldn’t be getting outcoached! Steve thinks the Leafs are lining up for a coach firing.
  • Rod distributed swag to the show panel from the Hanley Sabers high school football team, as he spoke to 150 kids at the Hanley School on Wednesday on Mental Health & Addictions. He also gave kudos to Saskatoon for the 7200 fans who showed up to watch the WHL All-Stars beat Russia 2-1 in OT at SaskTel Centre Wednesday night. Game 6 of the Canada/Russia series goes Thursday evening in PA.
  • In honour of show #115 the guys recognized sports figures who’ve worn number-15 and the group includes Vince Carter, Ryan Getzlaf, Ricky Ray, Patrick Mahomes, Lance Frazier and Jock Callander.
