TUESDAY CAT COUNTRY COMMENTARY – 3 IN 1
(Listen daily for the Rod Pedersen Commentary at 9:50 am and 5:20 pm on Cat Country 98 FM)
I COULDN’T STRETCH ONE THOUGHT INTO 90 SECONDS SO HERE’S A FEW …
NUMBER ONE: THE TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING CAME BACK AND MADE THE STANLEY CUP FINAL A SERIES MONDAY NIGHT, BEATING DALLAS 3-2 TO TIE THE AFFAIR AT 1-1.
I’VE PICKED TAMPA TO WIN AND AM ROOTING FOR THEM PRIMARILY DUE TO FRIENDS ON THE TEAM. HOWEVER HOCKEY PEOPLE ARE SCOLDING ME BY SAYING, “HOW CAN’T YOU CHEER FOR DALLAS WHEN YOUR DAD SPENT 26 SEASONS WITH THE STARS?”
THE ANSWER IS SIMPLE: THEY’VE FIRED EVERYBODY I KNOW.
NUMBER TWO: IT COMPLETELY SNUCK UP ON US BUT DID YOU KNOW THIS IS THE FINAL WEEK OF THE REGULAR SEASON IN MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL?
THE TORONTO BLUE JAYS BEAT THE YANKEES 11-5 ON MONDAY AND ARE LOOKING GOOD TO NAIL DOWN A PLAYOFF SPOT.
AS IT STANDS NOW, THEY’D FACE THE DIVISION-LEADING TAMPA BAY RAYS AND THEY’D GO ON THE ROAD TO DO IT.
AS FAMED BASEBALL BROADCASTER MEL ALLEN WOULD SAY, “HOW ABOUT THAT?”
AND NUMBER THREE: IN THE CRAZIEST TIME PERHAPS IN THE HISTORY OF THE WORLD, SPORTS IN CANADA REMAINS IN LIMBO NOW 194 DAYS INTO THE PANDEMIC.
WE HEAR RUMOURS OF MEETINGS BETWEEN THE GOVERNMENT AND BEWILDERED AMATEUR SPORTS ENTITIES THIS WEEK, BUT DON’T KNOW MUCH OF THE DETAILS.
IF YOU VOICE YOUR FRUSTRATION, YOU’RE CALLED SELFISH. SO FOR NOW, I’LL KEEP MY THOUGHTS ON THAT TO MYSELF.
THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY ON CAT COUNTRY 98.
