IN THE END, I WAS RIGHT!

THE TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING WON THE STANLEY CUP.

ALTHOUGH I CAN’T BRAG TOO MUCH BECAUSE IT REALLY ONLY WAS A 50/50 GUESS.

WE ALL LIKE SUSPENSE, BUT THERE REALLY WASN’T A LOT MONDAY NIGHT IN THE LIGHTNING’S 2-NOTHING WIN OVER DALLAS. TEXTING BACK AND FORTH WITH MY BROTHER, HE WAS PULLING FOR DALLAS BUT IT WAS ONLY BECAUSE HE WANTED TO SEE A GAME 7.

ANYTHING FOR MORE HOCKEY. ESPECIALLY NOW.

ACTUALLY THE PART I WAS MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO CAME AFTER THE FINAL BUZZER, WHEN OUR FRIENDS GARY BETTMAN AND THE KEEPER OF THE CUP PHIL PRITCHARD PRESENTED THE STANLEY CUP TO LIGHTNING CAPTAIN STEVEN STAMKOS.

I TRULY WONDERED HOW – OR IF – THIS WOULD BE ANY DIFFERENT FROM BETTMAN’S 28 OTHER STANLEY CUP PRESENTATIONS AND INDEED IT WAS.

THE LIGHTNING ASKED IF THEY COULD BE THE FIRST TEAM EVER TO ALL JOIN BETTMAN AT CENTRE ICE AND JOIN AROUND THE COMMISSIONER FOR ONE GIANT PHOTO OP. HE OBLIGED, AND THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA.

THE TRADITIONAL LAP AROUND THE ICE WAS NO DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER YEAR, EXCEPT FOR THE LACK OF FANS.

SO WHAT’S NEXT? PRITCHARD DOESN’T KNOW IF HE’LL BE TAKING THE CUP ON TOUR THIS OFF-SEASON AND BETTMAN DOESN’T KNOW WHEN NEXT SEASON WILL BEGIN.

AND IF THEY DON’T KNOW, I WONDER WHO IN THE WORLD DOES.

THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY ON CAT COUNTRY 98.
