TUESDAY CAT COUNTRY COMMENTARY – IT’S #KNIGHTTIME

(Listen daily for The Rod Pedersen Commentary at 9:50 am and 5:20 pm on Cat Country 98 FM)

I WOKE UP TODAY THINKING OF GAME 2 BETWEEN THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS AND VANCOUVER CANUCKS.

AND I’VE GOTTA TELL YOU … IT FEELS A HECKUVA LOT BETTER THAN THINKING ABOUT CORONAVIRUS AND THE HAVOC IT’S WREAKED ON MY FRIENDS.

MORE ON THAT IN A MINUTE.

BUT IN ROUND 2 OF THESE STANLEY CUP PLAYOFFS, VEGAS GOT OFF TO A GREAT START WITH A 5-0 WHITEWASH OF THE CANUCKS IN THE EDMONTON BUBBLE IN GAME 1.

THE STORY OF THE GAME WAS VEGAS HEAVYWEIGHT RYAN REAVES’ BATTLE WITH CANUCKS PEST ANTOINE ROUSSEL.

CLEARLY VANCOUVER’S PLAN WAS TO GET IN THE HEAD OF TEMPERAMENTAL VEGAS GOALIE ROBIN LEHNER AND ROUSSEL GAVE HIM A BUMP OR A CHIRP EVERY PASS BY.  IT REALLY WORKED … LEHNER POSTED A 26-SAVE SHUTOUT.

BUT REAVES PUT AN END TO ALL THAT BY LITERALLY STRONG-ARMING ROUSSEL INTO THE PENALTY BOX AND THEN MOCKING HIM LIKE A CHICKEN.

IT’S BEEN THE TALK IN VANCOUVER FOR TWO DAYS.

NOW, I DON’T EXPECT GAME 2 TONIGHT TO BE AS EASY FOR MY GOLDEN KNIGHTS. VANCOUVER’S GOING TO BE MUCH BETTER AND THEY MAY EVEN WIN. WHO EXPECTED THIS TO END IN A SWEEP ANYWAY?

BUT I’LL BE THINKING ABOUT IT ALL DAY, AND CHECKING SOCIAL MEDIA FOR THE LATEST.

IT’S GOOD FOR MY MENTAL HEALTH. A DISTRACTION. AND THAT’S SOMETHING I WISH THE MEDICAL DOCTORS WOULD CONSIDER WHEN THEY ARE RESTRICTING US IN THE SPORTS AND ENTERTAINMENT WORLD TO DEAL WITH THE PANDEMIC.

THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY ON CAT COUNTRY 98.
