It’s Tuesday and time for the Good, the Great & the Ugly!

First the good: Feels like you’ve really gotta get out the binoculars to find some good at the moment. Vlady was booed Monday night as the Blue Jays fell 7-1 at home to Tampa Bay in the series opener against the AL East leaders. The Face of the Franchise remains without a homerun at Rogers Centre this season.

And the Jays hit rock bottom in the division with the loss and this is just half a season after the Bluebirds went to Game 7 of the World Series, and handed out lavish extensions to Guerrero and the braintrust of Shapiro and Atkins.

At least maybe there’s a lesson to be learned here in rushing to judgment?

If you want good, check out our Moose Jaw Miller Express ball club which won its 12th in a row Monday night at Med Hat in the WCBL.

Next the great: All four CFL games in Week 7 had something notable occur. The new rules were on full display and truly decided the outcomes in Hamilton’s last-second upset win over Toronto and Winnipeg’s quadruple OT road win over Ottawa.

Fans were still gushing about it on Monday which is great for us talkshow hosts, and they were also discussing BC QB Nathan Rourke’s injury Friday night and Montreal QB Davis Alexander’s record setting performance Saturday in Calgary.

Not sure what the TV ratings are, nor the true attendance numbers at games, but it sure has been entertaining …

And finally the ugly: We all know what that is. In less than 48 hours after being involved in a fatal crash which killed two Saturday night including himself, Roughriders linebacker Jayden Dalke has been lionized, then villainized, and now we wait for toxicology reports from the RCMP which will truly tell the tale of the ugliest situation we’ve seen in some time.

Meanwhile authorities are preaching for patience and imploring people not to believe what they read on social media.

What did we say about rushing to judgment?

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.

I agree lets not judge by what is on social media but lets just look at the facts we have right now. Lets say that Dalke was not drunk or high when he was driving . The toxicology results will come out but we can not assume what the results will be. The RCMP have released the result of their traffic analyst report and Dalke was going the wrong way down a divided highway. If Dalke had lived he would have been the person who was charged for causing this accident. Dalke would have also been charged with stealing gasoline… Read more »

Written and spoken like a typical Grade 12 minimum standard RCMP cadet. He caused this accident? Before you do the Dragnet Jack Webb; “Just the facts sir” – you don’t know the facts. He drove off without paying for gas. Confirmed. What happened prior? What happened prior to what occurred prior? Was the highway entry marked? Was this a suicide or a mental health crisis. We’ve all seen the RCMP and their facts and where those land regular citizens. On top of that. That particular detachment word to the wise. If you get stopped you hand them the i.d, registration… Read more »

Fools rush in. First it was thoughts and prayers and tributes. Now they and that includes politicians and media can’t get a tribute and go fund me up fast enough to virtue signal the guy obliterated. Nobody has a clue and this is why people go to Just Bins and independent media. People are done with the d.e.i takes. ESPN just fired two race baiters with the third on his way. TSN take note. The three Sammy Davis Jr clones nobody wants to hear from either. End of the day. No toxicology report and no idea if this young man… Read more »

Vlady has known that he’d be playing baseball somewhere in North America since he was 7 or 8 years old.
Yet he never took the time to learn english and needed an interpreter until recently.
He’s constantly carried an extra 40 lbs. If he were serious he’d shed that.
Don’t tell me he’s dedicated because he’s not.
