It’s Tuesday and that means it’s time for the Good, the Great & the Ugly!

First the good: Lost in the shuffle of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and the NFL Draft is the annual CFL Canadian College Draft which goes today. It certainly doesn’t come with the glitz and glamor of the other two entities, but it’s life-changing for the players and definitely for the teams.

Edmonton has the #1 pick – unless they trade it – and Sask picks #3 overall.

Like I said, it’s never going to attract a crowd but it’s also not *unimportant* either. Good luck to all the players hoping to hear their names called.

Next the great: They’re saying, with last night’s Game 5 series-clinching victory, the Florida Panthers have now snatched the torch from the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Battle of Florida.

It was the Cats’ first playoff series win over their state rivals and while Bolts coach Jon Cooper said it’s “as close of a series as you could get”, I don’t agree.

But whatever the reason, there’s at least a few more weeks of live hockey to watch here and to me, that’s great!

And lastly, the ugly: Not sure where I stand on this but I’ll have to pick a side before today’s RP show.

Cooper’s being criticized for saying NHL players should have to “wear skirts” in the playoffs since net-front battles aren’t allowed anymore.

Is he going to be disciplined by the NHL for that? Should he be?

Meanwhile Ryan Whitney of the Spittin’ Chiclets podcast is being flamed for posting a cartoon he made depicting sexual assault as it relates to the Bruins and Leafs series.

The last I checked, he hasn’t deleted the post despite the uproar.

Just another day in this mixed up world.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary
