It’s Tuesday and time for the Good, the Great & the Ugly!

First the good: Football season is officially over – and that’s not good – but at least we can now officially turn our attention over to the Winter Olympics in Italy. The only issue I’m having is finding out information on when the events are on? It’s times like this that I really miss the newspaper! In the information age you’d think it wouldn’t be this hard to find a complete schedule of games.

But I’m not complaining. This is a “me” problem, and nobody else.

Next the great: I wouldn’t go so far as to say the Super Bowl halftime act by Bad Bunny was “great” but I certainly gave it the thumbs up. Following the reaction to the show is absolutely great however, and seeing so many people get worked up about the performance, the political ramifications and all the rest, is definitely great.

I saw a video of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell hugging Bad Bunny immediately after the performance in a tunnel at Levi’s Stadium and that told me all I needed to know.

The Commish seemed elated with the show, it’s evident he’s signed off on the direction of the NFL (a non-English halftime act), and that tells me all I need.

If Rodge is happy, everybody else can be too.

And finally the ugly: Meh. There’s not too much ugly going on in sports, that I can see. I also don’t look for it either because if you look for the good, you find the good. The opposite is also true.

It’s time to sit back and enjoy the rest of the Olympics. So far there have been no scandals; the Canadian soccer scandal comes to mind from the last Summer Olympics.

Let’s enjoy that while it lasts.

That’s today’s Rod Pedersen Commentary.

There is plenty of good to great. The “ugly” is relative as long as we are aware and keep it off our doorsteps. It starts slow. It begins with unplugging SaskTel Max and returning the equipment. It then extends to 10 minutes after the Super Bowl cancelling the TSN app and moving on to more important matters. Sports is now being used as a subversive tactic to divide while they rake in money. For those of us who watched the Kid Rock half time show one thing is apparent. WE LOST!!! The culture war is over. His show was for… Read more »
