TUESDAY COMMENTARY – THE HARD WAY

THE EVERLY BROTHERS SANG A SONG CALLED, “BYE, BYE LOVE”.

THAT TUNE MAY BE ECHOING THROUGH THE HALLS OF MOSAIC STADIUM THIS WEEK AS THE SASKATCHEWAN ROUGHRIDERS HAVE A BYE WEEK IN WEEK 11 OF THE CFL SCHEDULE.

INITIALLY I FELT IT WASN’T A GOOD WEEK TO TAKE OFF, WITH THE RIDERS FALLING 22-19 TO CALGARY ON SATURDAY NIGHT, GIVING THE RIVAL STAMPEDERS A SWEEP OF THE CRITICAL HOME-AND-HOME SERIES BUT NOW I’M NOT SO SURE.

THE JOLLY GREEN GIANTS HAVE FALLEN TO 5-4 AND DROPPED FOUR OF THEIR PAST SIX GAMES. IT WAS JUST A FEW WEEKS AGO SASKATCHEWAN SCORED A LAST-SECOND WIN AT BC AND STOOD AT 5-2.

SWEEPING CALGARY WOULD’VE DRIVEN ALL BUT THE FINAL NAIL IN THE STAMPEDERS’ COFFIN, BUT THE ALBERTANS ARE THE ONES WHO GOT OUT THE BROOMS.

AND SINCE I RETURNED FROM FLORIDA AND SOAKED IN THE BUZZ AROUND THE WHEAT PROVINCE, IT’S ANYTHING BUT POSITIVE.

EVERYBODY SEEMS TO BE ASKING, “WHAT’S WRONG WITH THE RIDERS?” BUT NOBODY SEEMS TO KNOW THE ANSWER.

NOW THE GREEN & WHITE HAVE A WEEK OFF TO LOOK AT THEMSELVES AND DECIDE IF THEY’RE GOING TO COME BACK WITH GHUSTO, OR WITHER AWAY.

OF MOST CONCERN TO ME IS THE FACT THE RIDER NATION SEEMS TO BE TURNING ON BELOVED FRANCHISE QUARTERBACK CODY FAJARDO.

IS THIS A FACT? OR IS THIS THE USUAL CASE OF EMPTY BARRELS MAKING THE MOST NOISE?

EITHER WAY, YOU KNOW HE HEARS IT AND CODY’S APPARENTLY TAKING A WEEK AWAY TO GET OUT OF THE BOILING CAULDRON THAT IS THE QUEEN CITY.

EVEN THAT MOVE’S BEING CRITICIZED.

THROUGH IT ALL, THERE’S ONLY ONE THING THAT REMAINS CLEAR TO ME:

THE ROUGHRIDERS ALWAYS SEEM TO DO IT THE HARD WAY.

THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY

I don’t know why but reading this article immediately reminded me of (RIP) Mr. Bob Hughes LP Sports. Thanks for the comments RP.

Cody isn’t the problem. The porous offensive line and the defensive’s lack of tackling and covering wide receivers is the problem. Why do the nay-sayers get the most media attention and try to create dissension when there is none?

The “O” line has got to get better. He has no time on most plays. The play call is limited on half the plays due to no time! Also number 38 has got to go on D…..he just gives up too many long plays…he has had too many chances and failed

There is problems everywhere this year but even though they struggle they are still in the game. Get the growing pains out of the way for next season.
