THERE ARE A COUPLE OF THINGS I’D LIKE TO ADDRESS TODAY …

THE FIRST IS MONDAY’S REPORT THAT CFL COMMISSIONER RANDY AMBROSIE HAS THREATENED TO FINE ANYONE LEAKING LEAGUE INFO 25-THOUSAND DOLLARS.

THERE ARE ALL KINDS OF THINGS I’D LIKE TO SAY ON THAT BUT I’LL SETTLE ON ONE – – –

THIS DOESN’T MAKE THE LEAGUE LOOK GOOD.

THE CFL HAS MILLIONS OF FANS AND THEY’RE BEING KEPT IN THE DARK BY THE LEAGUE’S AND TEAMS’ SILENCE AT A CRITICAL TIME.

THE FANS ARE WHAT WILL SAVE THIS LEAGUE WHEN IT MATTERS MOST AND THEY DESERVE BETTER THAN WHAT THEY’RE GETTING.

THE OTHER IS THE DISPUTE IN WINNIPEG BETWEEN THE JETS AND DISGRUNTLED FORWARD PATRIK LAINE.

I WISH I COULD SAY I DIDN’T SEE THIS COMING, BUT I CAN’T.

AND IT’S NOT ABOUT LAINE. NEAR THE END OF MY TIME IN JUNIOR HOCKEY I SAW THE CHANGE IN PLAYERS AND IT WASN’T A GOOD ONE.

THEY WENT FROM THINKING “WHAT CAN I DO FOR THE TEAM?” TO “WHAT CAN THE TEAM DO FOR ME?”

I DON’T KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE SWITCH, BUT HERE WE ARE. I KNEW THAT ATTITUDE WOULD EVENTUALLY REACH THE NHL.

WHILE THIS ISN’T THE EXACT SAME SCENARIO AS DALE HAWERCHUCK AND TEEMU SELANNE LEAVING THE JETS, IT DOESN’T MATTER.

THIS IS STILL A BELOVED FRANCHISE STAR WHO WANTS OUT OF WINNIPEG. AND IT SUCKS.

THAT’S TODAY’S ROD PEDERSEN COMMENTARY ON CAT COUNTRY 98.
