TUESDAY RUNDOWN: BACK AT IT!
After a wonderful August long weekend we were back at it Tuesday live from Century Downs Racetrack & Casino with Episode #1,055 of The RP Show – Daytime Sportstalk – on Game+TV, WQEE Radio, YouTube Live & Podcast! Here’s the rundown:
- RP and Moose Dupont kicked it off with The Warmup covering these Quick Six show topics: 1) The Blue Jays win their fourth in a row, 3-1 at Cleveland, 2) NFL Training Camp rundown (it seems like a lot of holdouts!), 3) The Eric Karlsson Trade, 4) The Hamilton Tiger-Cats fire offensive coordinator Tommy Condell (Moose feels it’s not an overreaction), 5) Week 9 in the CFL – WPG 50 BC 14, CGY 20 TOR 7, MTL 27 HAM 14, SASK 26 OTT 24, and 6) Moose’s tennis report.
- Vancouver Canucks radio broadcaster Brendan Batchelor joined the show and feels the Penguins will win the Karlsson trade in the short term however they’ll be facing a massive rebuild down the line. He also feels the Canucks have made plenty of solid off-season moves – particularly rebuilding their blueline – and feels they’ll be better. But will it be enough to get them into the playoffs? Batch also gave a forecast on the careers of Sask boys Ethan Bear and Luke Schenn, both of whom played for the Canucks last season.
- The Key Auto Group daily poll question as: Who’s the most coveted remaining NHL free agent – Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Phil Kessel or Other? At press time, Kane was leading by a large margin.
- RP Show hockey analyst Sarina Taylor joined us live at Century Downs in Hour 2 to discuss all the above topics and also announce that she and Rod will be hosting the Cats ‘N Bolts Podcast covering Florida’s NHL teams this fall!
- Leader Post Roughriders beat writer Taylor Shire joined the show to discuss the Green & White. He was impressed by QB Mason Fine’s performance in Sunday’s win over Ottawa, but also questioned some of the decisions by both head coaches in the clash. Taylor feels Friday’s Sask-Montreal clash is easily Canada’s Game of the Week in the CFL, however he reported that Cody Fajardo missed Day 1 of the practice week with a hand injury.
- See you at 12 pm ET on Wednesday on Game+TV, WQEE Radio, Podcast and YouTube Live!
